Will thin out the market for betting in UK
Betfair and the big bookmakers will remain but some of the more 'marginal' operators will stop offering a service to UK punters
May reduce choice but the operators who pay UK tax will be the ones you can trust to pay out on time etc

Heard about this today on the Pokercast. It's just another way to tax the companies and will eventually lead to higher rake.

On Stars, the main thing it affects is player to player transfers. I'm not sure if they'll be stopped or just kept within the UK. You also won't be able to automatically top up or rebuy but I suspect scripting software will solve that issue pretty quick.

I'm not sure where we stand with Betfair Poker, perhaps a bit of clarification is needed?

No plans to stop transfers afaik - the auto-top up is not allowed - don't use a script as it will be trivially easy to detect and might result in action as you could be deemed to be using bot software to gain an advantage.  Other players might even grass you up Cry

Pokercast: http://pokercast.twoplustwo.com/listen_and_browse.php?episode=332

skip forward to 28.14 Pokerstars Steve D clarifies things and addresses your concerns about scripting. I was distracted when they discussed transfers but I just listened again and they are capping them.

I'd like to hear Betfair's stance on this issue as it affects not just the poker brand but the whole industry.

Be surprised if they didn't retract the scripting thing.  They don't even have a license yet and they're advising people to modify their software to get round a regulatory restriction?  Presumably they'll say chip dumping is ok to get around transfer restrictions?
