Hi All,

Going to purchase HEM 2 and was wondering when I purchase it online how do I receive the software (i.e. does it come in the post or does it install it on my computer via a file?)

Thanks

Download it from here:http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_2_Setup.exe

You get a 30 day free trial.

Then try Pokertracker and get their free trial. See what you like.

It takes a bit of setting up so don't think it will work straight out of the box but the effort is worth it for understanding your own stats alone. I think Yorky Pud put a blog up about setting it up a year or so ago.

Thanks Ovalman.

Is it really a pain in the arse to set up? if I download it tonight will I not be able to get it all up and running within a hour?

I did have holdem manager a few years back on an old computer but that was a good 3 years ago and cant remember much about setting it up or downloading it ect.

In your experience out of the two (PT3 and HEM)_which do you prefer. I get the feeling that most use HEM?

Thanks

Poker Tracker wouldn't work for me so I bought HEM2. PT has it's fans and the current version gets good reviews. It's a bit of a muchness though, both do a similar job but try both anyway as you get a free trial of both.

You could set it up in 10 minutes but it's confusing for the first time user. I forget the exact steps but the first thing to do is tell HEM where your hand histories are stored. For Betfair this can be a problem, come back to me if you find this step confusing.

Next you have to sit in the same seat so first click on the settings on the software and sit where you prefer, then click on HUD options on the HEM software and tell it what seat you chose. If stats are not where you like when using a table then right click on them and drag them to where you want them.

These are just the first 2 main points I can think of. That should at least configure your Hand Histories and HUD.

Understanding your and the HUD stats is a skill in itself, don't think it will immediately improve your game. You have to understand what your looking for. I'm still learning new tweaks and features and I've owned it a year and a half. I actually struggled a lot understanding the HUD as it affected my play, I found too much information is not always a good thing.

Thanks again for your reply, appreciate your help.

I've seen a clip on youtube about setting up HH ect and also HUD so I feel confident that I can do these steps..

in regards to stats I going to take this quite slowly and do some research as to what I should be looking for.

I only play micro stakes (0.5/0.10-0.10/0.25) and am able to win without it at the minute but I guess I'll need to get on either HEW or PT3 in order to move up stakes.

Why didnt PT work for you?

Sorry for the delay, I can't remember but it just wouldn't load for me. I've since upgraded my laptop so I suspect it wasn't a PT issue, just problems on my end.

When you do download it, mainly pay attention to 3 stats, VPiP, PFR and Agg Factor.

VPiP tells you how often a player enters a pot, PFR tells you how often he raises pre flop and Agg Factor tell you how aggressive he is on the flop, turn and river. You can configure your HUD as much as you like but it's best to keep things simple. If you hover over these 3 stats you can glean a lot more info on them so these should be at the core of any HUD you create and will be available in most of HEM pre configured HUD's.

Use HEM mainly to analyse your own stats and correct your own mistakes while use the HUD display only as a useful tool. Just because a stat says a player will fold to a 3 bet doesn't mean he always will. Nothing will beat good solid play and proper reads on your opponents.
