I've come to the conclusion that K-K is the absolute worst hand you can hold at Ongame. I lost 5 straight times with it (no lie) and in 4 of those occassions there wasn't even an ace on the board. Last night in the $10+$1 turbo tournament I was in a virtual tie went all in with it (5 left) and was called by the guy with just a touch more chips. He showed 7-7. Of course a 7 came on the flop and my hand never improved. Board wa2-7-9 rainbow so I would have been all in regardless. This morning in a turbo sit n go. I was first to act with K-K and actually tossed it. Flop was 4-9-J rainbow. 2 ended up all in. One showed 4-J the other showed 8-10 turn was a 7, river 4 so my K-K was 3rd best.
Speaking to others on the Betfair chat they all concur that they always lose with K-K so I've made it a rule that I'm tossing K-K now every time I get it here.

Well so much for that strategy. Chip leader in a tournament and had KK. Guy went all in with 1/2 my chips and I called. He showed AA flop was 2-2-8, turn was J river K

I'm keeping count - 3 losses today with KK all in preflop, 2 yesterday and 1 the day before (all in 5 or 10 seat sit n gos at $3 and $5 buyins). Since August 1st I've had 19 hands dealt KK and I made a decision to go all in pre-flop every time I had them to see if my theory held. Of those 19 times, 10 times everyone folded. 6 times I ended up matched with 1 person, twice with 2 people and once with 3 players. In the 6 games vs. the 1 player I lost 5 of them - once to AA, 2 times to flushes, once to a straight and once to 66 when a 6 came on the flop. In the games vs. 2 player I won once and lost once to a flush. And in the game vs. 3 players one had a flush, one a straight and my trip kings finished 3rd.
Mind you it's just poker but boy can it be a frustrating game sometimes. Of course I get more frustrated when my AA all in pre-flop loses to 29 because the flop comes A-4-J turn is a 3 river 5 - which happens at Ongame frequently. Funny thing, I was in Gananoque a while back (about 200km from Toronto in the Thousand Islands and the casino there had a $100 buy in poker tournament that I decided to play. 65 players entered and I decided to play and cashed - finished in 7th place. Not once did I see anyone call an all in pre-flop with 2-9 but it happens online all the time and I saw NO runner-runner-runner wins which seems to occur here quite a bit. I guess the lesson to be learned is that you can't equate online poker to land based poker as they are different animals - particularly tournaments. Land based poker is much more skillful than online simply because online you end up with so many bad players going all in with hands like 2-9 that it makes it much more difficult to win. When everyone plays by "the expected methods" it becomes a game of strategy but when they play bingo everyone's chances dwindle. I once read in a poker magazine where Phil Hellsmuth said that Tom Dwan was the worst thing that could happen to the game. He got rich online by being the ultimate donk and he's taken that to TV as well. Now everyone thinks they can play like sh*t and win and it's made it much more difficult for conventional players to enjoy playing poker because it becomes a test of whose crap cards can outflop whose. And in the end those with the resources to bluff the most win. |

So to sum up..
B@M poker has a higher standard than online. Dwan got rich by being a fish. Winning players find it difficult to beat the fish. Players with the biggest rolls win because they can afford to bluff more. And there was me thinking the complete opposite was true. |

You forgot to add the shocking revelation that there are bad players playing in 2 quid sit and gos.

Well this of course explains all your bad beats and prove online poker is r*gged, you keep playing against RNGs that produce extra cards on the flop.   |

I like the analysis since August.Big error is to push all in every time with KK. You got no action half the time. No rig here. Just bust out of MTT. First my stack 12BB. Got a sb/bb match up 55 v KK lost Then 6bb & next han KK lost my push to 66. OK unlucky but over the MTTs I play it happens. I suggest you may want to vary (raise or even call once in a while). Then your opponents will not be able to realise you have KK |
