You have to wonder how much longer they are going to perserve with the current format. This weeks leaderboard has been running a few hours shy of 4 days. We haven't had a single update since it commenced, and when you check the leaderboardpage you get a message stating :

We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with the points feed for the Skill and Go Leaderboard that started on 23.12.2011.

We anticipate having an updated leaderboard available by 14:00 CET on 26.12.2011.

Obvioulsly that deadline has long since been and gone.

In addition I still haven't been paid for the Leaderboard that finished last Thursday ! Mind you, they say there is a skill element, the last LB period I won over 600 bucks playing low stakes STTS, had a ROI of about 25%, and didn't even make the top 100. Laugh
Pause Switch to Standard View "SKILL" and go leaderboard

Yeah, this is a very good point.

They say this new way of calculating the points is fairer towards the recreational poker/exchange punters, who they want to reward and retain. I'd class myself in that category. But if I cant get in the top 100 on a weekly spend of $2.5k and return of $3.1k, then not sure it's aimed at anyone other other than the Eastern European rake machines. One UK player in the top 50 seems to confirm this.

Certainly nobody holding down a day job could be even remotely competitive.

Hopefully my 15 bucks will be in the account tomorrow. Grin

u sumerised  it  perfectly.

unfortunatly roi boards dont make money for sites.
i cant think of an easy answer to give the recreational players a chance.

For a weekly Leaderboard to act as  any kind of incentive it has to be updated regularly. You cannot run a proper 7 day Leaderboard where the first update is halfway through day five.

The only other change I would make at the moment is to scrap points awarded for games where players don't cash. This might stop a situation where 2 mates sit at  5 man $5 stts together for 12 hours a day.

There were a couple of suggestions floating about at the Q and A, like making it on the first 50 games per day, or first 300 games per week, which would still favour the grinders but give anyone prepared to have a go every now and again if they run well on day one or day two a chance. However, to be honest, until they get the updating issue sorted out the whole thing is self-defeating.

I dont chase it, and never would, I just happen to be in the top 200 most weeks anyway and have a quick glance to see where I'm at. However there's something not very skilful about a board where last week I finished 102nd after winning 600 bucks, and where this week I'm 107th, after winning 11 !
