I have just joined pokerstars today and it has been a nightmare.

However, I am gradually getting there with all the changes in table, cards, position etc etc, but one thing I cannot find is the hand strength.  As I am playing omaha you can see this is rather a problem, especially on a strange board and strange cards.  Can anyone help?

And a ps to betfair, I have had to go to pokerstars because you do not put on enough omaha tournies and there are no omaha sngs.

You shouldn't be playing PLO if you don't know how good ya hand is.

Agree with Bruce on that one, harsh but fair.

At least if your playing on Stars you are leaving the travesty of a site that is ipoker alone!

Have checked through their options Annie and it appears they don't have this facility unless of course someone knows better!

Of course I know how good my hand is, but most of the time I am doing something else whilst playing poker and when the warning bleep goes it does help to have the fallback position of hand strength to check that I have not omitted any hand.  And it is even more of a help in hi lo omaha, something that I am a beginner at.

Anyone else who can help?

Have you tried asking on the pokerstars forum ?

Tip, try concentrating more on the game rather than 'something else'

chipfire, I cannot even find the forum, where is it?

I have tried everywhere for the hand strength, but to no joy.  I asked at the table and they gave me tips such as you must use both your hole cards!!  I cannot believe they do not have hand strength.  I will have to email them, it will be my first at gmail as I hate emails and they may not respond for days.

It is really spoiling my enjoyment of the omaha tournies at pokerstars.

Annie, there is no hand strength on Pokerstars and there is no forum from which you can access from the lobby. If you want any info and want questions answered, 2+2 have a dedicated forum specifically for Stars. HTH Happy

Thank you, jc30, although I am dismayed that there is no hand strength.  I would like to play mutltiple omaha tournies and just when I have found some and am doing well at them, then this occurs  Sad

If I had omaha holdem manager would that tell me hand stength?  I have just started at omaha hi lo and without hand strength and multiple tournies I doubt if I could cope Cry

You don't need to worry on that score, their customer service is absolutely first class. Even if they don't do show hand strength you can always suggest it and if enough people do the same....they may introduce it Happy

PS, what is your alias, I often play omaha sngs so might see you there Mischief

Thank you, avenger, for your help.

I'd rather not say my alias as I have had horrible abuse on this forum and so would not like it on pokerstars too  Happy

No hand strength even in NLHE. But lots of good features not on here so stick with it.

There are omaha sngs here but agree not that many tournies but some.

And there is good advice here, and it's not all abusive. Some is blunt, dry and even funny. Some is OTT and a lot of the abuse has stopped. Not that I condoning any horrible abuse.

You can even post a message here using the envelope on the top.

Good luck.

Thanks, Nick  Happy

I agree with you that there are some really good features on pokerstars and once I started sorting it out I got really excited about them.  I thought that the no hand strength was just me, but now I know it is not there it is a bummer.  I play mainly omaha at the moment and wanted to play multiple tables, something there is not enough omaha to do here, so that could be a deal breaker for me.  You could easily miss a gut shot you were not counting on etc if the only attention you gave the board was the brief couple of seconds after the warning bell.  And for omaho hi lo it would be even more of an issue.  I have only been playing omaha for about six months so maybe it will not be an issue in the future.

Do you know whether if I got omaha manager it would tell me hand strength?

I think the reply from 'bruce willis' illustrates the nastiness on this forum.  Someone asks for help and all he can do is belittle people.  We are all not 'pros'. just enjoying ourselves.  I think this kind of reply from him and others is responsible for the lack of interest in this forum nowadays.  I have seem umpteen replies from some of the regulars on here being superior and snide at posters who are not as good as they are, unless they happen to be a 'mate' of course.  What does annoy me though is that some of them work, or are associated with betfair.

Hang on, you  slag Betfair , this forum, and most of the people who post on here off at every opportunity, yet come on here and ask for advice about how the software works on another site ???

Isn't that like me walking into Asda, rolling up to their Customer Service and saying " I don't shop in here because the stuff you sell is garbage, and the staff are retarded and rude, now, can you tell me what aisle the tomato soup is in Tesco, I cant seem to find it ?"

You are abusive to plenty of people on here, yet as soon as someone posts a reply that upsets you, you start complaining about it. My advice, if you cant take it back, don't dish it out.

You might not agree with the way Bruce puts his  point across, but what he says is absolutely spot on.He has not been abusive, he has not been nasty. He has been blunt and to the point ; you get out of this game what you put in, and if you are learning something new :

a) Learn the maths before you start.
b) Concentrate fully on what you are doing.

If you cant do either of those things, then by all means play the game for fun, but don't waste your money on software.

Nothing nasty here at all and rather pathetic to even suggest it is.

Hi Annie
You've probably figured by now but most important are Table Display options

Display bet amounts , 4 Colour deck is helpful & personally i turn Player images off to avoid looking at sick babies all day long Plain

Prefered seat obviously

Showing/Mucking hands  (I don't like to show mucked/losing hands)as it gives opponents extra info on your play

I also turn sound off to avoid the annoying beeps !!

Bet slider option isn't much use really (i only ever use x2.5 preflop)  but may help you

also turn off all congratual Notifications & Pop up announcements as they can be very annoying if they have a promotion on

Other thing is View .. the table themes are very good personally i prefer Hyper simple theme

The table layout settings are also very good if you multi table

also request hand history's etc whenever you want & they email you within a few seconds !

Hope that helps a bit Happy

Thank you Moonbeam, but I wish you had posted that last week  Happy

As you say I have done practically all you have posted and I particularly like the fact that you can turn off ALL the sounds except your actions one.

I still dislike the lack of hand strength though. For omaha and omaha hi lo it is essential I think, at least for me.  As I have said before I do other things whilst playing so I only get about ten seconds to judge my hand and if I am playing multiple tables it is even worse. Display of hand strength gives you that security that you have not missed anything.  I wanted to join pokerstars because of the increased omaha tournies and omaha sngs, but it has backfired because of no hand strength Sad
