The thing is it is meant to be a community game to promote the forum.
Putting a password on the forum at least means that if people want to play then they must visit the forum every week. We have many playing the quiz and listening to John's broadcast all via the forum so I personally think password protected is better. |

^ Hf sums it up nicely

Agreed. Dee to action.

Who you kidding HF
? A password would just be a temporary obstacle, kind of like using your finger to make a hole in water. Visiting the forum does not mean contributing to it. Also - is this limited to the forum? or do twitter and facebook users not need to be considered? If people play the game they might warm to the in game chat and quizzes better and then contribute more to the forum. It will only lead to calls for the password to be changed and then the password not updated and more people complaining. We have not had a password for a while now and there have not been issues. |
By:
Disagree Klup,
At least people would have to visit the forum so they MAY contribute. If they don't have to come to the forum then they certainly won't. There have been issues as people have complained about it! Anyone can visit the forum and anyone can get the password, level playing field for everyone and no need for any password changes. |

If I can just chip my pennys worth in..This was the COMMUNITY game if it is still the community game then a password has to be wrong as any plyer on betfair has to be considered a member :)
I am sure it was never the forum game so think the visting/using the forum as an argument for or against is a non starter. Perhaps you can give the pros and cons on why it needs a password mr pokerprmanager. |
By:
I would say protection is always best.
By:
I take ur point SC but as the COMMUNITY game what do you think that means?
You have to click on the COMMUNITY tab to get to the forums so as far as Betfair is concerned community means forum is the way I see it. |
By:
I agree with Thrappers, someone reading the forum and not posting is still using the forum and therefore fine by me. Each to his own

It was definitely an issue when there was $250 in added prizemoney each week, and only about 40 runners making a massive overlay. The game was plundered by a few Eastern Europeans who point blank refused to engage in the chat facility even at final table and heads up.
Not being in the least bit xenophobic there, because the game is meant to be enjoyable and have a Community feel where people can have a fairly relaxed game and a chat. All I'm saying is that a few were playing it purely and simply for the overlay, didnt join in any of the banter, and vanished as soon as the added prize money went. The only chat they indulged in was begging for the password. If there is no added prize money on the night, why do you need a password ? And if you have to answer the quiz questions on the thread in here, wont people have to visit the forum to participate in that anyway ? |
By:
And on that note from Chipfire ... The argument to NOT apply a password has been upheld.
Passwords are designed to exclude people - where as this community is intended to be inclusive. |
By:
I agree with Thrappers
By:
Ignore that!
By:
So you dont agree with Thrappers?

You have to consider what your long term objectives are for the game. Personally I think it needs another 30-40 players to give it more of an MTT feel, but I guess others would be happy keeping the fields below 50 runners.
If you want to get the game bigger numbers wise, sticking a password on there is counter productive, and seems totally contrary to advertising the thing on the poker promotions page. The problem of course is persuading "the right people" to participate at a time when Betfair seems hellbent on driving people away. This week we have had the Leaderboard fiasco, and we have also been excluded from Prize Mountain, even though I'm convinced our poker play was taken into consideration when the targets were set penalising us twice. If you have a promotion where people have to play hunt the password, or you are relying on someone at Ongame setting it, aren't you just inviting trouble ? |

Still not 100% sure what to do about this despite the poll showing a conclusive 80% want a password 20% don't.
I want to grow the game and a password would limit this. What I propose is to review this after this league has finished (6 weeks) If the player experience is diminished by a flood of non forumites we can introduce a password. From my personal experience it was quite intimidating playing in the tournament - bit like going to a work party where everyone knows each other. It may just take time for them to feel relaxed and start chatting. Hope everyone is OK with this. |

The question asked in the survey would in theory only be of particular interest to those who want it password protected. Those who didn't give a monkeys about a password were much less likely to vote.
How many unique votes were actually made? If only between 4 and 12 voted for a password and between 1 and 3 against ... then that survey needs some serious help! Instead of a % comparison, - i think assess it by total count. How many actually voted for a password against a say 50 / 60 players who normally play the game. PS: I refer to your : "I want to grow the game and a password would limit this." Does that not answer your question? |
By:
BfPrmanager can you sort the quiz payments that were said to be done on the 18th november for the players of the kunkkuwap community game
that might help grow the game |
By:
@Klup 10 votes in total ....which is technically 20-30% sample presuming that these people normally play in the game.
@BruceWillis v.v.v sorry for the delay. I don't want to point fingers or make excuses but I have been promised it has been done and you will see the money soon ![]() |
By:
What is this community game anyway? Can't find it in the lobby!
By:
Just 8 wanted it. IMO - No password then.
By:
So Klup 8 people wanted a password and 2 didn't and you were one of those.
You are trying to bulldozer the no password option through with no backing, no evidence to support you and no numbers. Why would those who don't want a password not vote? The fact is many didn't vote because they don't mind either way but of those that did vote an overwhelming majority wanted a password. No doubt you will come back with more bulldozing double spaek but the facts are that a vote was taken and your point lost. End of. |
By:
Ok HF, you have convinced me. I fully agree with your argument seeing that 80% have voted for a password. It makes incredible sense to have one.
PS - i just did a vote in grantham and 80% of voters have agreed that all people who live in Stockport should spend 3 hours every sunday morning collecting litter. |
By:
More double speak what a shock.
I still think a password is a good idea but think that BFPRM's idea to wait and see till the end of this series is the correct path. It is the way you dismiss a poll that has gone against you as worthless yet if 10 people had voted and 8 had of said they didn't want a password it would have been a mandate for your opinion and you would not have been ridiculing the sample size. You are fast becoming a politician, unfortunately a Lib/Dem one! ![]() PS. Would take 3 hours to pick up all the chocolate bar wrappers you threw out of your car window on your last visit! |

FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTTTT
By:
And you must be a Labour MP - red tape and tick box jobs for everyone!
What exactly will the benefit of having a password achieve other than to inconvenience people? |
By:
So we have to play few more weeks with unknown players in the game what was friendly and with great banter on the start , now it became like any other tourney on this site - playing against strangers.... that's not community spirit
By:
I think Quack answers your question quite eloquently.
By:
Once upon a time quack, you were unknown too. Sorry if im thick, but im told its because i was dropped on my head as a baby, how exactly would a password actually prevent 'unknown players' taking part? Is the password not going to be posted on a public forum?
Why stop there? Why not have the community game limited to entry by ticket only? If someone makes 5 posts during the week, they are entitled to a ticket. That will keep the unknowns out! |
By:
password please ;)
By:
password please ;)
By:
yes it should !!
By:
Yes Dino, we all have been unknown but we are part of the forum and password shown here will be visible to anyone who is interested in, no doubt there will be some who will give it away in chat MAYBE, but to see the password they will have to VISIT this forum sometimes.
Idea about tickets for 5 posts per week is also good one. Anything is better then this. ![]() |
By:
Klup you deliberately ignore earlier points made.
Unknown players at least have to 'visit' the forum and if they visit the forum they may well see the banter going on in the Kunkuwap thread and actually join in. Then the game might do what it was originally set out to do which is to increase the forum activity and community. But don't let any of this rational argument get in the way of your one man bulldozing mission! |
By:
So how will forcing them to look at the forum for a password encourage them to talk?
They will still come to the forum to look at points updates, to answer questions etc. If they dont play the game because they dont have the password, will they really sit and watch all the banter at the tables? Come on thrappers - your heads stuck in so deep, you can see your own adams apple ;) |
By:
Jesus wept, are you still bleating on?
It forces no-one to do anything but look at the forum but is does increase the chance of them talking and getting involved which is the idea of a community. None of this is rocket science unless you are a big Greek fish then it would appear to be akin to the meaning of life! ![]() |
By:
FYI we had 62 runners last night (23rd Nov) which was our best ever in the new format.
What was the banter like? |
By:
Sorry i missed the game :( no idea where to find the password - i search the forum hi and low, to no avail!
By:
Lol it had no password :)
