Is anyone else going ? I think they must be struggling for numbers as they have told me I can bring a guest who will be eligible to play as well, but the start and expected finish times haven't altered.
I'll be there, looking forward to it. Bringing my better half who always lasts longer than me in tournies (amongst other things!).
Hotel rooms in short supply and very pricy next weekend, may have something to do with them struggling for numbers.
Looking forward to meeting a few of you :)

Yeah, its costing me £150 for trains and a hotel, so in terms of value I'd be better off buying into something online with that money, but thought it would finally be good to meet a few more people off here. It also gives me a good excuse to swerve going to Scunthorpe to watch Hartlepool lose.

She wont be there till after 8 pm and she wont play any poker, as she has no idea how to.
Get to Masters status and you qualify for the tournaments, plus hospitality for you and a guest. No idea why they are letting the guests play the main events this year, presumably because the wives/husbands/partners got bored sitting around watching for eleven hours. As it makes the field bigger I'm not chuffed about it, but there you go.
The qualification for the games is widely advertised. It would defeat the point of having a Players Club if they just opened the games up to anybody.

I can't understand why I haven't been contacted about this :( I live near London and have been master for a few months now (although I have been away and haven't played on here for a month). What's the point in achieving the club levels if you don't get what it says you should?

I'm guessing here, but I suspect you have to be at Master Level for a full 12 months, or near enough, before you qualify, though I will certainly ask at the next Q and A session. Looking at the Players Club pop-up it says you get one every year , so if you are still at Master Status next August when the games are advertised you should get an invite.
It's the first time I've ever been invited to anything by BF, and to be honest, because the games were either in London or Nottingham, it does seem a tad unfair on the players who live well away from these areas. Having 2 of the 3 games in London and none in the North or Scotland seems crazy, but I think one of them was in Glasgow last year and perhaps it went badly ?
Either way, in the olden days these games were for VIP Players only, and there was no indication of what you had to do to become a VIP Player. At least now everyone who plays enough gets a stab at it, although I have to say maintaining your status can be a right pain in the backside in months where you know you racked up a boatload of points in the corresponding month the previous year.

Seems ridiculous to me. Why say I have achieved master level and then say I have none of the benefits unless I'm on it for 12 months? (if that is what it is, I suspect your probably right). I could even of been grandmaster by then, and then what? wait 12 months before I see any grandmaster benefits?? It just doesn't seem worth it. It feels like I've been ripped off in some way, it feels like false advertising because I'm not actually entitled to what it says I am. I spent alot of hours and alot of rake getting to master. They should seriously just make it so you don't actually get onto it unless you have the required points to have the benefits.

These games / events are not specifically targeted at poker players but Betfair VIP's and selected guests. The standard will be lets just say ... erm... hmmm!!!

Sadly I'm not sir! I got to the Nottingham one by piggy backing on a friends invitation - had to do the same last year as well. I think they try keep their bar costs down!

Sorry Chip - have the small matter of a football match on Saturday. Also complicated scenario with childcare as wife is working on the day as well. However, your 50% has gone up in value now seeing I wont turn up :)

Pretty sure I had an invite. tried e-mailing a few times got some really bad replies and still inconclusive. i made myself unavailable for footie as put this in diary as soon as fixtures out.
Gave up a week or so ago. Am going for an early morning ramble on the North Downs have a nice pub lunch in Dorking and then go and stuff Kent in a County Chess Match. Have a few beers no doubt, and may not play poker at all for a change.
Looks like I'll save my next live tourney for Feb - BF London - unless I win a PCA or other seat somewhere soon.
Have a good one and maybe less runners the better. They may even be able to buy a few extra drinks.

Seriously mate you should chase someone at BF about this. If you got the invite it should still be viewable by clicking that little speech bubble thing on the front page...thats where I found mine.

I was the one sighing at every EVVO raise from Keith.
And if I'd introduced myself, no way were you folding them sevens.
No that wasn't me with the AK vs your AQ.I was the one sighing at every EVVO raise from Keith. And if I'd introduced myself, no way were you folding them sevens.
Highlight of the day was Keith comment after his all with J3 got called :
" Oh well, at least I must have 2 live cards..........(cards get turned over)...................... Oh for fks sake ! "

Only 50 runners, including 6 Betfair bounties, two of whom made the final table.
Windings went early on, Mrs Wingdings went out 17th, think Keith and rockme went out just before the bubble in 13th and 14th.
I scraped into the money, but they didn't announce the payout structure until the bubble burst, so had no idea what I was playing for, but was happy to have covered travel and hotel costs.
Someone kept asking for the Brighton score, so assume cgull was there, though didn't have him on any of the tables I was on.
Keith kept asking people for their BF usernames but a lot of them either didn't have one or didn't want to talk to him, so none the wiser as to who they were.
Lad sat next to me who took rockme out with QQ VS AA was chip leader when I left, plays a lot online ( he told me his name and I've forgotten it ) but doesn't use the forum and had never played live. He was on the verge of a coronary at one point.

Oh, and there was loads of really old people there. It was like a visit to an old peoples home, only it didn't really smell overwhelmingly of stale wee wee.
Except in the toilets, obviously.

Prize pool is $10k, think the winner got $3k. Entry is for anyone who is on Masters status in the Players Club, but theres some confusion as to how long you have to be at Masters Status before you get the invite. Im hoping to clarify this at the next Q and A session.

OK thanks Chipfire. Hoping for an invite to a Betfair live event (not London)...guess I gotta cane the rake and get to Grand Master before I can even hope for that though!
Disagree with the idea you can bring a friend to a VIP event though, nothing stopping you bringing in a 'skilled' player and give them 50%. Betfair VIP games should be for the single invited player only, if that means a field of only 35 or 40 then so be it. That is one of the reasons and incentives players grind to make Master. Wrong to have ringers in there unless you are one invited on the merits of your grind in the first place :)

I think it's a good idea that you can take a non playing guest, because travelling 300 mile there, and 300 mile back on your lonesome ain't great, and I know a lot of people can find it intimidating walking into a poker club for the first time on their tod. It's also someone to split the petrol/hotel costs with.
Very few people seemed to have brought a friend along that I saw, and a lot of people who said they were attending didnt, presumably put off by the travelling and hotel cost.
