Sorry, but there is no skill element whatsoever. I played 25 X $22 games (the highest value game admissable ) in the first few days , cashed in 21, had a scary ROI, and I'm not even in the top 450. Its just (another) rake race innit ?

yes.

its just an acculomation of points per game played.

getting a 25% roi over 25/30 game scores miles less than a 0% roi over 200 games.

great aint it.

If theres 450 players won more than me over the last 3 days playing stts under 25 bucks I will give the game up. What gets me is the way they keep emphasising the so called skill element. It is none existent. I could play 100 x 22$ stts and cash in 90 of them and not make the top 200. Laugh

100 over the week would get u in top 200, at the lower end.
Report gnashersblackpool November 14, 2011 2:13 PM GMT
100 3rd s at 20 dollars scores about 800 pts from memory.
100 1st s was about 2200.

You reckon ? I played 10 x $20 6 seater D2NS on Friday, cashed in 9, and scored 55 points. Notwithstanding the fact that 55 isnt divisible by 9, I dont think 550 points would get me into the top 400.

Even if I made the lower end of the leaderboard the $5 i would get is miniscule given the $2.2k I would be risking in entry fees.

Looking at the latest board theres about 3 UK players in the top 100, which is strange, because I was told the overwhelming majority of the poker customer base is from the UK ? Perhaps none of us can be boshed to grind the low stakes stts any more.

a cash in a don 10handed 22dollar game is supposed to score 8 pts per cash. a non cash scores varing amounts  6th getting more than 7th and soon.
Report gnashersblackpool November 14, 2011 2:49 PM GMT
found it
don 1st to 5th 7.83pts
6th  5.06pts
7th 4.25
8th 3.63
9th  3.12
10th  2.68.

so 2 8ths losing 44bucks scores as many points as 1 cash.
or simply entering 3 games and being first out is a skillful as 1 cash outta1.

its stilljust a cake race, dressed as  a skill promo.

So you get points for losing !!!! LaughLaugh

You couldn't make this shyte up.
Report gnashersblackpool November 14, 2011 3:00 PM GMT
yup, if theyu wanted it to have a real skill element, but stillhave it as  acake race, it should b minus scores for non cash places. but muchsmaller than  ptsgained for cashing.
something like uget yer 8pts for winning score 0pts for bubbling and minus 2 or3pts for 7th or worst.

this would still give the multi tablers an advatage, but give the smaller raker a good chance at finishing higher with  a decent roi.
Report chipfire227 November 14, 2011 4:36 PM GMT
Is it the same points regardless of what stakes you play at ?
Report gnashersblackpool November 14, 2011 6:23 PM GMT
no pts i quoted are for 20 dollar 10 handed don.

the lower the stake, lower the points, ie winning a 10 dollar don is 5.53 pts, and a 5 dollar game 3.91.
Report chipfire227 November 15, 2011 9:48 AM GMT
Well I've gone from 451st to 23rd overnight. I did wonder how so many players could have racked up hundreds of points in one day.

Is it always so completely and utterly random ?
Report chipfire227 November 15, 2011 12:01 PM GMT
Gnash do you think last weeks leaderboard could possibly be right ? There were 50 players scoring over 1500 points, that seems incredibly high for one weeks play, given the traffic during the day isn't great.
Report gnashersblackpool November 15, 2011 1:11 PM GMT
no idea, barely played for 3 months on bf poker.

if playing 20 dollar turbos as a break even player u score 4 to 5 pts a game average, so its only 300 games in a week, if u play 8 or 10 at a time 1500 pts can be done over 15hrs play quite easily.
Report chipfire227 November 15, 2011 3:06 PM GMT
I dont reckon there are more than 50 BF players playing over 300 X 20$ stts a week. Off last weeks LB i recognised about half a dozen names in the top 50.
Report lawslaw November 26, 2011 2:13 PM GMT
If you were a serious grinder then I think it would be pretty easy to get in the top 10.

Just playing 200x $5 Turbo DoN's a day,(not as hard as it sounds to a serious grinder)  would get you around 3600-3800 points and that would put you comfortably in the top 10.
Report chipfire227 November 27, 2011 12:10 PM GMT
Surely the terms "pretty easy" and "grinder" are contradictory ?

Playing 7000 games a week would be incredibly bloody difficult to anybody who had a job. There are never any UK players in the top 20 or 30 because this would have to be your full time occupation, and you wouldn't make enough money to live on.

Obviously 500 bucks a week would go a lot further in Latvia, Hungary, Romania, etc.
Report lawslaw November 27, 2011 12:50 PM GMT
I don't think the terms are contradictory, just the amount of games you would need to play to get in the top 10 would 'easily' be accomplished for a 12-14hour a day grinder.

You have hit the nail on the head though, the old eastern block players who may have far lower costs of living will always find these kind of events and races more inviting than a UK player. there are still places in Europe where you can live a really good life by local standards on a grand a month.

Indeed that is why more and more players are moving to these areas from places like the UK.

Well 3 and a half days into this weeks leaderboard period and still no updates. Getting on for a fortnight since we had an in running update.
