You would think that the worlds biggest bookmaker could afford more than $1.25 for the winner of a 570 player freeroll.
I came 2nd and won the princely sum of $0.75!

Come on betfair, surely it's time to raise this pathetic amount to something more suitable?

You can't even call it a bankroll starter as you can't do anything with it.

I know you do do other freerolls but there so far and few between.

Surely you could do hourly freerolls at maybe $50 for the winner.
You make enough money out of it?

Am I not right in thinking that they did $25, $50 and $100 freerolls for a time? Charging 25 and 50 cents respectively for the first two and apparently not having the latter at all seems a bit tight to me if I'm honest.

I remember BFPoker saying on this forum the reason they (and most likely all sites) have freerolls is because they lead to deposits. The freerolls, deposit bonuses, forum games etc. aren't for our benefit they're for BF's. I got a hoody from Stars recently, great quality and I'm really pleased with it but when I counted up the rake I paid, I calculated it cost me over £500 in donated rake. Stars is a machine when it comes to printing money and something BF should aspire to.

Ovalman, I saw an 'ovalman' on twoplustwo, is this you?

It was about ukash vouchers.  Are you still using them as I was thinking of it to deposit at stars as I do not want any more gambling sites on my bank statement.

Yes Annie, I used a £20 Ukash to clear a $20 bonus, first time I've tried them. Never used it to withdraw but I've nearly cleared the bonus, will keep you updated (next weekend hopefully).

Thanks, Ovalman Happy

Please keep me informed, especially if you withdraw from stars via ukash. I think the depositing side of ukash looks easy, but I am not sure the cashing side looks secure.  Although I doubt I will ever need it  Sad

I was thinking Ukash because I could use it to transfer funds instantly between sites without waiting for funds to clear on my debit card and use it to clear Stars deposit bonuses which they offer from time to time. I'm clearing a $20 bonus atm for passing their STT quiz. I've been thinking as I play there the most I might as well take advantage of any deposit or ticket bonuses they offer. As I said I will clear that bonus next week and I've withdrawn on Stars before so it will be interesting to see if they make me jump through any hoops before I can withdraw by Ukash.

Beware, Ovalman, I think they said on the site that with ukash they refund back money to those cards you have used before, before they do a refund to ukash - or something like that Confused

On Betfair yes, but afaik Stars do a refund as a Ukash no. I plan to reuse the number for redeposit bonuses (hopefully). It's new to me as well, I'll keep you posted how it works.

Ukash withdrawals are fairly new to poker sites, obviously deposits via this method have been around for ages. Im unsure which sites allow Ukash withdrawals (I know carbon poker do), but it works like this.... when you request a withdrawal, you will get a voucher number for that amount, just like when you want to deposit but before you do this, you need to purchase a ukash mastercard. Basically its like a prepaid credit card. Ukash will send you one in the post (costs £10). You then go on the ukash website and type the voucher number in your card that you register with them and you can withdraw your money from ATMs or you cash use it to pay for goods at shops just like a normal debit card. Hope ive explained that well Cool

Sad

I thought they would issue a number you could reuse on other sites (or reuse on Stars)

Thanks jc, I just want to reuse the voucher, will know better when I clear my bonus. I'll post what happens when I withdraw from Stars.

As an update, I went to withdraw my £20 via UKash but minimum allowed was £30. I cancelled and proceeded with bank transfer which (up to so far) went ahead OK. I always thought you had to withdraw via the last means you deposited with but everything so far seems OK and Stars have processed the transaction.

JC got me wary of UKash, I'm not saying I won't use it again but I won't use it for withdrawals until I need an immediate transfer between sites.

Thanks for the update, Ovalman.

I did read on their site that refunds are made by way of sending you a number to your email address, I think.  It does state in their deposit methods that you can withdraw to Ukash.  I could always use it up at some other site.

I've been playing very little on Betfair as I done most of my bankroll (first time ever here) but I was thinking if I spotted a game with some decent value I could withdraw via UKash and deposit here on the same night.

Stars Cashier (and Betfair TBF) processes very quick, it's the 3-5 day delay to reach my account that the banks control (and make money on). I will use the UKash withdrawal at some stage but until I have an urgent need I will withdraw via bank.

Can you deposit via ukash on betfair, Ovalman?  I did not see ukash on their deposit ideas.

Annie, you can deposit via a paysafe voucher, its basically the same as a ukash, just different company and you can get it from the same shops that issue ukash vouchers, hth Happy

@ovalman you recently gota hoodie from pokerstars, which cost you $500 in rake. Isnt it better than nothing? You will pay the rake anyway, so the hoodie is just a bonus. I got a ZIPPO Poker lighter from PKR and I love it!

It was £500 not $500 Scared

Yes I'm very happy with it but it also shows what sort of money the poker sites are making.
