Qualified on-line for this and playing Thursday in Coventry

http://www.grosvenorukpokertour.com/Goliath/Goliath-Blind-Structure/

Play starts: 12pm

Starting Chips: 25,000

Blinds: 40 Minutes

Level    Small Blind    Big Blind    Ante    Start Time    End Time
1    25    50    0    12:00    12:40
2    50    100    0    12:40    13:20
3    75    150    0    13:20    14:00
etc etc

What is the best theory for these type of events...

Is it first levels call any raises with any two decent cards or call with all sorts of junk hoping to hit flops where inexperienced players may not lay down their over pairs if you hit 2 pairs etc .... Gonna be long day for sure but the stacks carry over to day 2 / day 3 on the Saturday and the sunday

first three levels - do same really "minimum + 50 chip" raises playing position. Do it with any two cards - but don't try build a pot unless you flop the dogs bollocks.

Alternatively sit out the first 2 hours and enter the room all Helmuthian like!

When I've played online before in these, ok only 10 pound buy in's,  I used to play any pairs and set mine If had someone raise before me.

If I hit set I would push all in and amount of times they would call with the over pair was unreal...

Always chance they hit too thou ;)

Kind of looking forward to it but bit nervous since never played live much and never for this type of buy in and standard

Just my $0.02:
Standard will be variable, from awful to pro, there will be donks that you can take advantage of.

Only real difference is calling more in the first few levels with baby pairs, suited aces, sooty connectors hoping to flop something nutworthy else give up. I would not want to play any two and get that kind of image cos time will fly and soon enough blinds and antes are going to matter and I want an image that lets me steal. Ofcourse Klupmeister general can play any two as he has the know-how to preempt when his 7-2 will hit the flop hard!!

If you feel nervous and I think most of us do in our first few big tournaments, there aint too much wrong with taking it easy the first few levels and observing what the other players do until feel more relaxed, cos its superstack you're probably going to be at the same table with most of the same players for many hours, any reads etc will help later.

Oddly enough pokerstein - I actually like my laggy table image for the very reason that it often gets people trying to play the player (me). For the most part they get it wrong [:p] as i ultimately tighten up a lot in the middle.

the klup as you can get away with a rebuy should you not be taking chances early and putting yourself in a strong position for 2/3 days
someone as good as you should be able to exploit this .
