Ok, finally took the plunge and joined the gym. Can anyone recommend an mp3 player that is easy to use? I don't know anything about how you get music on to them. I don't download music off the net, but have loads of cds. So I take it, I need to load the cd into the computer, then transfer this to the mp3 player? Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thxs. I'm more worried about the downloading side. I want it to be easy to transfer cds (or tracks from cds) to the mp3 player.

an ipod nano is easy enough to use. all u have to do is download i tunes first (easy enough - just type it into google). when u have itunes open and put a cd into the computer, itunes will ask u if u want to paste the cd to itunes, u click yes, wait 2mins, then just drag the album to your ipod (which also opens in i tunes), it is very easy to gert the hang of, then just delete the songs u dont want. also whatever anyone says ipods are top quality and outlast any other mp3 player in terms of useage

Most phones have mp3 player built in these days, if your due an upgrade etc then perhaps save the cash and go with the phone offering. Otherwise get an iPod. A purist may tell you xxx is better etc, but in te end everyone has an iPod and knows how to use it so much less chance of tech problems imo. defo avoid Sony imo.

EU regulations restrict the ouptut volume on personal devices. The level is lol low. Do check that whatever you buy is either unaffected by the regs, or easily bypassed. This was my main gripe with Sony, along with a million other things. iPod/iPhone seem to be ok for this. Also the apple standard earphones are the best on market for standard earphones imo.

All that said, given your using it in the gym, then get something that is either bluetooth or easily clips to yourself, (armband etc).

Your CD's will simply upload to PC and transfer accross, either using whatever software package comes with the player or Nero etc.

dont sell him an ipod , what happens when he wants change the battery or when itunes effectively rootkits itseldfin to your o/s, or when apple decides what music you can own and corrupts everything without drm on your machine, get an archos, or a creative.

I told you someone would!

I think Mcoy is the sort of guy that will do best with a mainstream plug and play device that next doors cat can work. If that is not the case then I stand corrected.
