Try some different speakers to see if it's the speakers / pc that's the problem. Though you probably havn't got any others so this may not help :)

if I read this correctly you don't have speakers as such, just a built in set with the monitor? If so they are usually very low output, and even if not usually poor quality.
If not you can test the "speakers" on another device to see if it is them or the PC. If it is the PC, then you need to check the sound card, which really means getting someone to do it for you Old Boy ;-) |

Just plug some ipod earphones into the socket for the same effect.
