As a rule i tend not to re-buy in re-buy tourni's, but am i putting myself at a dis-advantage
or am i giving myself long term value?

Depends if you're not very good at poker.

I'm not keen on rebuys but you cannot say never rebuy. You will sometines find yourself on tables with maniacs who go ALLIN nearly every hand so unless you are very lucky, even if you are only playing premium hands you are goona fall.

loads of different things to consider.
how much the buy in means to you.
how many will get paid.
how many *****for the rebuy.
how much has everyone else got.
what stage in the buy in period is it.
what do you think of the players/your chances.
is there a cash game .
are a few to consider

If your not prepared to be in for 5x a single buyin as ave, then your playing to high,i see no value in single buyin leave b4 rebuys up.If you want to find cheap value in a rebuy then stars do l8 reg, so you can jump in just b4 rebuy hour finnishes with a double rebuy and addon, prob about 40 bbs going into freezeout period with 25% of field out leaving their dead money in prize pool.

as JPJ says, depends if you are winning or losing player long term.

That said I do think people sometimes do add on when i do not feel it is optimal to do so from both a huge stack and tiny stack perpsective. However, just my personal opinion and probably one when it is not a case of being black or white.

Won a 500 seat one on Saturday one buy in and an add on at break.

Wasn't very highly stacked but got some massive doubles up after break, and a bit luck on final table, point is you don't have to go mental at the start with buy in after buyin calling with 7 4 etc.
