Before I tell you what happened to me on BF Poker last night, let me just explain that I am an experienced online player who has played bf since the Crypto days. I stuck with bf through the "difficult" transition to the Poker Champs software, I have won dozens of mtts and possibly thousands of sng's, and, when more committed to the game than of late, have finshed 3rd on a sng monthly leaderboard.

But I am NEVER playing bf again.

I have been running strangely bad in my sng of choice of late, the d2n game, including an unprecedented run of 9 losses (my previous worst was 3). Just a bad run, I thought, but last night I began to suspect that something fishy was going on with my games. It began in a heads up match. Holding K8 o/s, the flop came up K88. I checked, my opponent bet 160. Suspecting he might be tempted to call an all-in, I shoved - BUT UNBELIEVABLY my buttons had stopped working. Nothing happened. The hand timed out, my cards were automatically folded, BUT strangely my buttons began working again from the next hand onwards. The "malfunction" never repeated itself during that game.

Then, in a $12.10 d2n, I was dealt KK under the gun. I raised 3x the bb and 4 players called. The flop came rag rag rag rainbow and I put in a bet of about 200. Again, my buttons failed and nothing happened. I was timed out and watched as someone won a big pot ace high.

AGAIN, MY INTERFACE WORKED AGAIN IN TIME FOR THE NEXT HAND!

A couple of hands later I called a raise with AQ diamonds. I flopped a rainbow straight. There were 2 players in the hand. One bet big. I shoved all in - again, you've guessed it, nothing happened and I was timed out. Again, everything worked ok once the hand had finished.

At this point, I gave up. Three times struck by lightning when only holding winning hands?

I cannot think why this should be. Why only these 3 primo hands? Can a software failure be so specific as to only happen when you have a very high probability of winning the hand? I don't think so.

After the 3rd disaster, I began to think I may have been hacked in some way. I then began thinking about the superuser scandal at UB / Absolute a couple of years back. Whether a bf superuser has the ability to actually interfere with a player's hand is unlikely, but being a computer programmer myself, I know that of course it is possible, and after Absolute we all know that online poker rooms have superusers.

This is in no way sour grapes. I keep a record of all my games on bf and am thousands ahead. But after this experience my confidence in the security, reliability and stability of the software has been rapidly eroded. I have accounts with around 30 poker rooms from the big (Stars) to the small (Biker), and have seen some strange things over the course of time. But I have never experienced anything so weirdly selective as this.

I won't be coming back, and I advise you all to watch your game and report any suspicious goings on to this board.

Cue abuse.

I've had a similar bug on Betfair where no matter what button you click it calls for you. Is very annoying and only solved by logging in and out.
Report enjbenjy January 8, 2010 9:23 AM GMT
Have also encountered the original bug but not for a long time.

It is totally possible you were experiencing your connection dropping out constantly over the playing period - you only noticed when you were trying to take some action.

I spoke to BT cos I was having this problem over the last few days - normally no problems at all.

Obviously they blamed increase usage down to the weather / technical issues etc which would be resolved.

Frustrating I agree, but nothing sinister I reckon.

the software does all this to me
1) cant see hole cards sometimes (can only be fixed by closing bf and loging in again mtt, or leaving table cash)
2) auto folds hands
3) crashes if i click see last hand
thought it might be my pc anyone else had these bugs?

ARW i had the same proplem just over a year ago and the fault lies with betfairs software. When i contacted them they just hide behind it's my computer fault and not theirs. Also like yourself if you contact they will treat it as an isolated incident instead of taking the matter seriously. Betfair are good at one thing when it comes to software problems, DENY DENY DENY.

I've had it before. Definitely a Betfair fault.

It has happened to me, too. I click on a button and it does not act. Usually if I keep clicking it acts in the end but sometimes it does not. I had put this down to my old computer but now I am thinking it might be a Betfair software fault? The worst thing is that it is intermittent, so you never know when it is going to do it again, sods law it is always when you have pocket aces, three of a kind etc. Come to think of it we have a situation now of an intermittent software fault in the folded cards showing sometimes and sometimes not.

OK. My connection was not "dropping out" as I was watching the tennis live on a wireless laptop, my main pc being a fixed connection. I don't use BT, I have fibre optic broadband. The tennis coverage was uninterrupted. As for the stakes, yes they might not be a million quid but if a superuser wants to go undetected he would probably not target big buy in tourneys. A bug - maybe, but why could I play losing hands, and only the sure-fire winners were stopped?

As I said, it's just too weird. When BF bought PokerChamps and used this software it was initially very buggy (of course they denied this) but I have had no problems for a long time.

I am sticking to my guns and I still don't believe that what happened to me can be written off as some sort of coincidence.

regarding super user activity....betfair has this problem..is independent site....bought an old site....is not seen to be dealing with collusion.... so you do have to worry that these people may exsist...but is only speculation
Report the ironman January 8, 2010 3:22 PM GMT
if it could happen anywhere you would say the site with the worst, most outdated software was most likely.

Spooky sir, ive allready made some threads about losing lately way more than before on 12d2n, and further more, yesterday as i was holding my breath to stay in the money in the breakfast tourny, when it(betfairpokersoftware) suddenly tilted, opens 3-4 pokerwindows, and stalls, becomes bubbleboy nr 19.

Regarding the d2n i can only see its the system itself who messes about, if you wanna think radical thoughts. I posted some hands in another thread, funny is, that the hands emselves isnt oustading badbeats, buy when u loose 9/10 60-40% hands, and cant catch nothing when u try to drible for flush on the flop, i surely dont catch. Not strange when shown on text hand by hand, but when seen in overall times its strange.

With regard to your first point "buttons not working" I had the same thing yesterday on S tars. Playin a big tourny, I would have moved up considerably, froze me out on a winning hand and back in again immediately after. Really**ed me off. I have had it a few times.
I do get connection problems but they are normally consistent. This happeneded then stopped. This was well dodgy. So it's not just Betfair.

Very rarely play on here maybe a couple of games a month and this has happened to me on a few occasions, I have also noticed my computer heats up very quickly when playing on here (no problems elsewhere).

Hence I will only play on here if have a few quid burning a hole in account.
