21 now so I can finally go to Vegas but my pal ruptured his achilles tendon back in sept 09 so walking needs to be kept to a minimum. Obviously theres no prob to get a cab to any of the sites but the main mtt action centres on Caesers, Venetian and Mirage so looking to stay in that vacinity.Others who have gone always went cheap at Luxor and Excalibur in the past but I hear they are at the South end of the strip. So, we are considering Harrahs, Ballys, Treasure Island. Ive been told to stick well clear of he Imperial Palace at all costs.
Anyone stayed at Harrahs, Ballys , T Island or recommed another option..
Three visits to Vegas....last one came back on Monday.
Mirage is SNG rather than a decent MTT venue. Nice hotel recently refurbished.
TI poker room bit of a dark dump, and MTTs seem to get only one or two tables for 2pm.
MGM had six or seven tables for MTTs 11am and 7pm...good standard, nice room.
Caesars best poker room in the strip and maybe four or five tables for MTT during afternoon sessions.
This time stayed at Signature at MGM Grand - junior suite/cheapest room was luxury. Venetian last time similar. Caesars cheapest classic room was a dump.....awful.
Never really been in Ballys or Harrahs for poker or staying there.
Dont go to Hard Rock for poker. Luxor also has decent MTT schedule - from memory eight or nine tables regularly. PH is also OK.
Although I stayed at Venetian, didnt do their tourneys.
Caesars to Venetian is too far to walk with a ruptured tendon.
Whats your budget? If not large, consider MGM IMHO - although south strip, is opposite NYNY, not as far south as Excalibur or Luxor, and only short walk to Aria and PH if you go out the West Wing doors. I wouldnt normally consider TI...heard rooms are rather "tired".

Ballys is ok (we go to the decent price spa for a massage & relax str8 from the flight)...but stay directly across the road at the Bellagio. Top hotel, top gaming floor and top poker room. Only been to Dishes buffet at TI which is great but it and Harrahs seemed logjammed with zimmer frames and sweat pants.
Above post lays out the poker other than Venetian / Wynn have some big buyin but beatable MTTs.

Stayed at Treasure Island last Jan., it was fine, excellent location on the strip opposite The Venetian, next to Mirage, close to Bellagio. Not so expensive as the others, it's nothing too flash and there are better hotels, but for the location and nice room and a big bed that was like sinking into a giant marshmallow every night, for the amount of time you actually spend in your room - that suited us perfectly. Although next time we might try one of the other hotels, but nothing wrong with TI at all.
For reviews from recent travellers a good website to look at is Trip advisor.

taking into account ur friends injury, probly better to stay mid strip but on the monorail side. so depending on ur budget (bearing in mind its only a roof over ur head and a shower) hotel recomendations cheaper price start with imperial palace, mid range, harrahs, ballys, paris, bit dearer at planet hollywood and venetian, all along the monorail line, poker recomendations cheap at sahara with plenty of local runners rather than tourists same as imp pal but more touristy, harrahs and mgm poor daytime tournys (wouldnt recomend). ballys and ph are ok if they get the runners. but the best has to be the venetian. one that hasnt been mentioned and it is a cab ride away approx 1 mile from the mgm off the strip is the orleans. the poker room is stunning loads of diffrent cash games plus good tournys.(well worth a visit)
