Do we call here and if we win have a superb shot at winning the tourney but if we lose be out in 9th or fold, wait for a better spot and probably pick up a few extra places as well.

I folded

he came 8th, I won! I was cursing myself, he was shoving anything, A9o Q3s etc but I think folding at that time was the right decision!

Do you have 13 big blinds?

by the look of the stack sizes i am going to guess this is a 180 man turbo. In that case you have to call, knowing he is shoving as wide as Q3s i dont see how you can lay it down.

at the time we'd just started the final table, yes it was a 180 man game, I didn't know what he was like cos he hadn't been on my table.

I just didn't fancy a race this early on the final table which could have left me out in 9th with just $40

You won so you made the right decision. End off.

I think the end result is irrelevant. Given the information at the time I still feel a fold was the right move, did I really want a 50-50 at this stage which could knock me out in 9th? I was $150 down for the night before making this final so kind of had my eyes on finishing top 5 at worst so I'd finish the night level which may have influenced the decision to fold

Flipping at worst though extremely likely and plenty of hands you dominate. Call. With and without hindsight lol.

How can the end result be irelevant? You make your decisions based on what you know or what you think you know. You made a decision at the time and it turned out to be the right one. What more can you ask for?
Unelss you are playing purely the Odds then all decisions are based on assumptions.

Why's it turn out to be the right one? Because he didn't lose any *****go out? If that's the case should he have folded AA too? Plus with hindsight then knowing what hands he was shoving with ie A9o; I would've thought it was an even worse decision to fold. Imhaco :)

With 13 BBs i would definitely sit and fold my way up the prize ladder and wait for a premium hand.

Exceelent fold ;)

Insta call if you want to win you need to take risks and AK is a risk worth taking especailly with his range you got lucky this time, other times you will just limp up a few places.

The object of the game is to win money. To win as much as possible. He made the decision and chose to fold, it means nothing what other people think he should have done. He made his decision and whatever the outcome it cannot be changed, so therefore it can only be judged on the effect it had on his final position.
Yes,it was obviously the right decision because he won.
We weren't talking about AA were we? He was at best 50/50. Ok he may have been fav going on the other shoves but as it turned out he wasn't.
As I said it's not an exact science. At times you make good decisions that turn out bad and other times you make bad decisions that turn out good. You will never make all good or all bad. You cut down the % in your favour by making the right decision more times than the wrong one. When in doubt get out, other times will come.

This really is such a simple calll, unless the $100 or so for 5th was really important to you*. Maybe you'd think for a bit with AJ or similar, but if it was 3am I'd struggle to do that.

* I know E V V O folded AA in the WSOP not long before the bubble, and looking back on a barren live spell I can kind of see the point. But even after a couple of nasty bubble experiences I know I would never do it. Maybe if it was on the final tale bubble in the WSOP, where there was a $400k leap 10th to 9th and there was a fella sat there with 1 BB, I had 20 BBs and the others had 100+? I'd hope there wasn't a camera on me though!

I will admit i folded AK with much regret in a similar position to you in a much bigger tournie .I had two all-in raisers behind. The king came and i would have won the hand.As it happened i was soon knocked out after that and i went out in 9th.So for me it was the wrong decision.WP btw

On another day I think yes, I make this call. I just think cos I'd ran so horrifically all night I didn't wanna go out in 9th place.

Confidence has always really affected my play which is why I have such hot and cold streaks.

I think 2 players in before you makes it tougher, especially if the caller is tight. But even then I'd probably call and bethammer certainly would ;)
