Is it ever correct to do so iyo?
I think it is in a tourney situation if it gets you up the prize ladder suffiently

folded them many times in sats and there are many times in tourneys it would be correct to do so(prolonging bubble if you abusing table for instance) but never been in a position to do it.

Often makes sense in a D2N if 2 players have gone all in ahead of you and you are guaranteed to get in the money as long as it is not a split pot.
Also at the end of a MTT when a big stack goes all in ahead of you and losing will put you in the bubble. |

I would consider it if a few players are ALL IN before me. Situation dependent of course. IE what type of game, stage of the game, etc.

Rubbish. You have 100 *****left and are dealt AA on the button Blinds are 1000/2000 button-2 goes all in with 40,000 ***** button -1 calls with 28,000 Should you fold AA ? |

Okay, in a 1 in a million scenario like that, yes, you are correct.
Reallistically, under normal terms when you have more than approx 1/10 of a blind and you are dealt said hand, then no. You could equally ask what if it is the wsop bubble and you satted in, but you need the $20k for a life saving operation when you are dealt it. :| |

i did it once when playin in a cash game with a mate of mine..he was a student and playin with the last of his dough i raised utg with AA got re popped and my mate shoved......i asked if he was empty if he lost the pot he said yes......i folded the guy behind called with TT and my m8 had KK.........naturally the TT rivered a set and he was still empty........

well all I know is that in a couple of tourneys we have got down to the bubble and I have been cruising into the money. I then get a premium hand and in a blood rush call an all in, usually with by far the best hand an against the one guy who is a complete ass and always raises with air.
You know what happens next - he makes a fluke straight with his 5 on the river and you are out kicking yourself. By folding you might give up the chance of making higher in the money I agree, but going out on the bubble after you have spent 4 hours in a tourney is a bitter pill to swallow. |

folded it many times in sats, and there are a few other spots when its right to fold them, i would be a lot richer if i folded them more.

first hand, wsop final table your 2nd chip leader, and the chip leader goes all in, and there is five very small stacks and 2 stacks that you have more than double them, what do you do? your prob 80% to be a massive chip leader, but your probably going to get 3rd or better if you fold , 9th about a million, 3rd about 4 million, i dont think it would be that bad to fold, what you think? not saying i would fold but i dont think its an auto call, also some tourneys where the payouts on the ft are loaded more towards the top 2, in the same situation it could be a fold, ps i get outdrawn all the fvcking time, so it may be clouding my judgement

yeah i would too, but there is a lot of maths involed i.m not sure its an auto call. and if you consider yourself a better player than the rest at the table, it becomes even more of a question.

I done a quick approximation of the wsop scenario in icm. it is pretty much equal calling and folding.

In all the years I've played, I've never folded AA or KK preflop. Bit unsure about QQ. Probably haven't folded that too many times!

samuel2512 dont think poker is for you. i was playin about 5 levels below my usual buyin .....since the pot would have made zero difference to me but my mate would have been busted it was an easy thing to do |

Good point about if you consider yourself a better player than the guys at the table in a tournie. If you are big stack against 2nd stackand other low stacks players looking on which you will out play in a big pay out it is definitely a consideration to fold.

was playing in the 12000k stack up 11 plys left , about to get onto final table with patient play , had a donk 2 my right , previosly folded aq to his all in , finaly get AA 2x raise he all in again , call and double up , next hand AA me again x3 raise as not to get called, diferent player pushes me allin and has me covered , i call his AQ . FLOP 8 K 7 , TURN 10 , AND YOU GUESSED IT RIVER J , hit his strt . long post but yes its sooo hard to but in some situation YES. (HE WENT ON TO WIN 3600)

If you are low-stack and folding gets you in the prizes I can see the justification, but only if your stack is so small that you have no realistic chance of coming back. The D2N is an appropriate situation for a fold if there are already AI's that put you through.
