lol i am semi local and occasionally (3-6 times a year) visit.

its awful. the above tournaments you mentioned were not dealer dealt from what I was told by staff? can you confirm?

running a 150 quid tournament in a casino (full of locals who all know each other) just sums up that place :)

bring back the occasional 500's and actually promote them this time.. or run sats for the local degens... /rant..

I find it staggering so many local casinos put on £100ish plus 10% fee tourneys which are self-dealt (edinburgh in my case). WALOS

its amazing how people jump on the band wagon, let me give u the facts. the original xmas festival was cancelled because the casino could not spare the dealers. so they decided to have a 100 and 150 tourny with reduced registration fees, of which everyone who played there were no complaints. 19 runners on boxing night which was to be expected. but on sunday 54 took part with the casino putting in the usual 300 quid, so over 8k was generated with approx £2500 going to the winner. perhaps the next time they have a similar tourney, all u knockers will turn up. or are you all just poor online players and no good at the live game??

iv played at mint many many times and dont think its that bad of a place. BUT what ppl saying about it being filled with locals who all know each other are absolutely right. And they will try to help each other if they can, fact. Iv seen ppl taking 30% of each other at the final table blatently.
But they all think they are better than they actually are anyway.

seems to have hit a sore point with one guy lol... just think it could be run 1000x better...

Do you not find it incredibly insulting that you have paid 150 quid + whatever ''reduced rake'' was paid, yet they can't be bothered to have dealers. It will speed up the already redic slow pace of the old people about to croak, prevent the obvious collusion and stop the inevitable arguing about rules.

(i put that in quotation makes as frankly usually its 10% whether the tournament is dealer dealt or not so not sure why the double standards on boxing day).

Every time I play a tournament there (somebody who is usually a regular) does something wrong, like a string bet for example. If they are liked it's often forgotten, if they are not then some riot appears to errupt. With dealers at least there can be some sort of order.

I could go on for ages about all the faults there, but dealers shouldn't be used as a novelty they should be expected as standard.

Other casinos appear to put on extra dealers/staff when festivals take place and if Southend mint can't organize sufficient cover and manage a 2 event festival then I think they need to re-look at the management.

banking, 30% seems a little extravagant, as for the some of the players thinking their better than they are, some of them have good reason to 3 cashes in recent years at the wsop. various cashes at dtd nottingham plus other decent tournys and comps around the country and europe
