what price is fed to win first round at wimbledon? similar type of matchup. monk can average 70 in games. that would make taylor value at 1.01 imo
Report ladycarla December 18, 2009 7:00 PM GMT
Back, I have layed taylor at 1.02, 1.03 hundreds of times and I'm down on him, defo back! The best darts player you will ever see.
Report ladycarla December 18, 2009 7:02 PM GMT
He should be 1.001, value at 1.01
Report Lenny the Guvnor December 18, 2009 7:04 PM GMT
as joffy said to me, what if monk is so bad he throws a dart into phil taylors eye and has to retire injured?

Or is taylor good enough to beat him with one eye?
Report Nova Sicko December 18, 2009 7:04 PM GMT

Every player can have an off day. If arbboy played Taylor (it would never happen but IF), you could say that presumably arbboy might be half decent at darts, even then I'd say that 1.01 in a first to 3 contest would not be particularly good value, no.

Report Soap December 18, 2009 8:07 PM GMT
and to win he has to break Taylor a minimum of 3 times
Report arbboy December 18, 2009 8:09 PM GMT
its actually the correct point. unless u can routinely do 12 dart legs (which u have to do to stand any chance of breeaking taylor) then u simply cant beat him. darts is a funny game where u either get 9 12 15 or 18 etc etc darts per leg. u never get 13 or 14. therefore as taylor very rarely has 15 dart legs because his scoring is in excess of 100 per throw its virtually impossible to beat taylor if u cant average at least 95. even then u would need virtually 100% double success to beat him when taylor averages 100 and the other guy averages 85 taylor is obv 160 ahead of him on a double on his throw and level on their throw. snooker is a totally diff game and much more of a leveller as once one player is at the table in a frame the frame is totally out of their hands. not so in darts
Report chop180 December 18, 2009 8:09 PM GMT
Yes each set is first to 3, the point being if you start badly you can easily find yourself 1-0 down, and in a first to 3 set event that can cause problems even for the best the player ever. That can't be said if Ronnie O'Sullivan goes 1-0 down in the first round of the snooker.
Report joffy December 18, 2009 8:10 PM GMT

But this year Monk missed a double to go 5-2 up and got beat 6-4 that will do for me for a bit of value.

Report arbboy December 18, 2009 8:29 PM GMT

i have no plan to shout my mouth off on here. i dont back 1/50 shots as standard but if i think they are value i will. the bottom line is monk is awful and wouldnt beat taylor 2in 100 games. hence i thought the price was value. gutted i didnt get involved in the whitewash bet. sounds like it copped but i didnt watch the match so i dont know for sure. did taylor throw first or not? only reason i can think they monk to win a leg was backed into 2/7 was that he was throwing first
