Depends what stakes your playing... empire is ok but only 1 2 game and full of annoying yuppies who think 15£ is a standard raise at that level....

where else do you play live and what stakes?

I dont play much live mate as can get better return online, i have played empire, vic, sportsman, empire prob best for value on cake charges but only 1 2 game.... although will often see 2k stacks at table, there is another casino in london supposed to be good for higher stakes action but cant think of the name, other people on here would prob know it.... The international also offers cash but havent played there so cannot comment, supposed to be good for plo if u like that....

what are usual buyins & max buyins at these tables, say for 1/2?

ive been to places before where it's a 200 MIN sit down, a 200 MAX sit down and anything up to about 1k max sit down. just house rules i guess..

at empire mavis it is min 50 max 400 or u can buy in for half of the biggest stack at table, people often play there for 3 -4 days on the trot, and so have massive stacks some 2-3 k..... so u could sit down with maybe 1 grand at a 1 2 table...... personally i think it should be max 400.....

vic - 1/1 is 40-200, 1/2 is 80-400

cake is silly where ever you go

the cake in France and continental Europe/ Australia is meant to be absolutely crazy.

the Barracuda offers high stakes cash action also

i got a letter from the Vic the other day saying due to increased taxation on them for offering poker games they are going to have to start charging for sarnies and tea! lol times must be tough as it stated they have a 1 million deficit to fill

also frustratingly you often cannot get a game at the Vic due to dealer shortages

also the vic dealers are as miserable as sin... and if ur not one of the regs u are not made to feel too welcome...

duffs full house is the place to play often get 6 handed with 100+ stacks playing 1/1, all nits that fold aces on K high flops also

well there are about 20 dealers lol!

sure no problem - my stats are about 75% stt and 25% mtt, stts are from $30 to $200 and mtts are from $30 to $300

and yep mtts have highest variance, stts also have a lot of variance, non cashing streaks of 5-10 are not uncommom for a +ev player nevermind a -ev player
