£330 freezeout deepstack, 141 runners 2 day event

4 handed after player 5 busted out, blinds 4/8k with 500 antes, chipstacks

Me - 95k
Player 1 - 340k
Player 2 - 334k
Player 3 - 220k

payouts :

4th - 3.6k
3rd - 5.6k
2nd - 8k
1st - 13k

i went out in 4th but didn't consider doing a deal as i was the small stack and the blinds were high and also because i was shattered after a sleepless night so i just didnt consider it

cd i have negotiated a deal here?

if i was one of the big stacks i would say no, u are too short to expect a deal there.. if 4 way all even stacked might of had a case...

I'd offer you 3K.

If I were you I'd push every hand for the next 4 or 5 and then ask again.

the Vic

i was pushing virtually every hand but unfort the small blind pushed on me every single time so i coudnt get a side up

plus the other three all knew each other and to an extent they used that to their advantage

I had blue top with bright red jumper on and quite messy hair - I am pretty hard to miss tbh.
The table i busted on had Karl Mahrenzollz hit squad guy on and some asian man who had won gukpt Blackpool.
Structure was great and meant you could run a few bluffs through vs people who thought u were a nit!

I lost a 17-18k pot early on vs blackpool winner qq vs aq aipf which if i hadwon wouldve put me in good stead to roll on.

Did you play on the same table as the crazy European who wouldn't shut up?
By:

When: 20 Nov 09 23:27
not sure about crazy European player? i was in the back room which was insananely hot, on a table with an older dude with a WSOP cap on, a very fit Albanian girl whose boyfriend was playing on another table, a really amusing Irish older man and others

final table 4 handed was the players u mentioned before - the Blackpool winner and some sponsored guy, other guy was a Vic regular cash player, all decent.

really enjoyed it

selling yourself very short taking 4.7K there. I haven't ICMd it, but you should at least aim for 3rd money.
By:

When: 21 Nov 09 00:15
Using this http://www.reviewpokerrooms.com/poker-games/general/tournament-equity.html

without the 4th money in you would get $3400, I think you can probably add $1800 for 4th money as you are probably 50/50 for 4th, and you get $5200. I'd still make 3rd money my objective.

Ah I can work it out from that site.

Pr(x) =1st, 2nd or 3rd = .0961+.1268+.1997 = .4226. Pr(x) =4th = .5776

so your share = 3388 +.5774*3600 = £5466. Don't ever let Lee negotiate for you in my view.

fine to attempt a deal here although if they are mates maybe not get it
rule of thumb for a fair deal should be all players get minimum lowest payout then pro rata the remaining prize pool for chip stacks
that would have given you an extra £1500 ish if accepted

Doobs
So he opens with 'I'll take 5.5k you 3 sort out the rest'

What do you think the reaction of other 3 would be?
By:
Dooberama
When: 21 Nov 09 10:40
well i am not going to take a cent less, so I don't really care what their reaction is. What is the worst that can happen?
By:
richpickns
When: 21 Nov 09 14:45
doobs if they dont agree it doesnt matter - all 4 players have to agree to make the deal - the fact they were mates meant that wasn't gonna happen - if it was 4 randoms i would have asked

ofc you were in a position to do a deal. if you good enough at negotiating you can always do a deal if it suits.

couple of years ago in cork 5 handed i had 5bbs left and brokered a deal. 5th was getting 4700 euro and 4th 6700 and somehow maaged to talk them into me getting 8000 and playing on for another 10.

instead of worrying about your stack look at theirs and remind them a couple of hands and a bit of luck can change everthing. always good to ask them what they would be happy with. the chip leader in the deal at cork took 25 so he was happy. when you have found out what they are happy you can obviously barter and dont ever sell yourself short- one or two double ups and you could be in with a chance of a real payday. its always good to leave something to play for as the big stacks then automatically add that to whatever prize they have already agreed because of ego and also they are rightly the favourite to win that.

again in luton last year 4 handed i had 140k another guy had 110 and the two big stacks had over 300 each. i took 10k the shorty took 9k and the biggies took 12 and 13 and we played for 6. as next out was only getting something like 6 it was a fair deal for all. that deal was made easier because it was regular faces and they know they may be the shortstack wanting a deal with you in another tourney but its just nice to lock up a decent ammount.

deal i would suggest in your stacks is
5500
7000
8000
8000 and play for the shrapnel

i would expect to be battered down to
5000
7000
8500
8500
and play for the extra bit.

would be far better to take a shot at a double up though where then you would probably get a 7/7/7/9 split assuming you doubled through one of the chippies.

I remember his other post last year.

2 players left in a pot (cash game) after the flop or turn, can they agree to split the pot without playing it out.

Yes said Dave its 'standard practice' quote.

Dave at the GUKPT Blackpool last week there were up to 8 cash games running all day and night.

To the best of my knowledge it never happened once all week!!

standard practice!!!

thnks Dests :)

fair point Ariston and cheers for info, in retrospect it wd have been wise to at least ask. funny how thin the margins are between a decent payout and a really decent payout - last hand was my a7 against 66, if i win that then it totally changes the picture

another lesson learnt
