No i havnt. Poker only died there when Gunwharf started. People, including myself, thought the grass was greener i suppose. A few of my mates go to Duffs and i hear it is a fantastic place to play but doesnt get the runners. I do wish you every success but the value is now sitting indoors on-line.

ah - i didnt realise that gun wharf poker was recent
Numbers are picking up at the club although we can always take more of course have a look at the schedule and let me know if you fancy coming to a game , not sure on your stakes but we have £100 + £25 bounty hunter coming up at the end of the month which should be good and hopefully a few here will come along
Our bigger stake games have been getting 30 plus runners and the cash game is picking up as well
glad your mates liked the place ,if you come to the club introduce yourself to me and i will get you a drink in

"Struggling to get the "2K guarantee at BS" - well from a players point of view how can that be a bad thing !!!!!

Week before last they missed it by approx £150 but to be fair they ALWAYS honor the guarantee and run the tourney whereas I know other clubs have simply cancelled the tournament !!!!

Last week they got 43 runners and made it quite comfortably - Monday night is the best night - ALWAYS 40 + for a £40 FO.

we dont cancell tourneys that fail to meet the guarantee - we had a 10K one last month with £2500 overlay so please get your facts rights
a couple of months ago a planned tourney was pulled from the schedule due to unforseen circumstances but that was pulled well in advance and nothing to do with not meeting guarantees

When you say "we" I assume you mean Duffs and sorry but I dont see where I put your name in my post ? My point was that if a club doesn`t make the guarantee then frankly "happy days" for the players (?) - from memory your last event was too expensive for me but with a £2500 overlay what great value ?

HOWEVER since you told me that I needed to get my "facts right" I was told in Potsmouth that in fact you cancelled a guarantee tournament (£5K I think) ? I was also told by a friend of mine who phoned up the DAY before one of these events and was told that it was a £5K guarantee and it would take place only for the event to be cancelled ? I suppose it depends on your definition of "notice" ?

At the end of the day I live in Portsmouth and have never been to your club but have heard its really nice but just NO runners - people tell me when they have been and their have been 7/8 people playing including the owner - I wish you all the best and hope the club works and will pop along myself one day although why on earth you opened it so far outside the city centre does seem strange ?

All I was trying to do was point out where I perceive the value which i thought was the whole point of the thread ?

yes i mean duffs ,as you mention BS always honouring guarantees and even put it in caps then mention other clubs cancelling i took it you meant us as we are the only club nearby
there was a tourney a couple of months ago that was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances but not due to guarantees not being met as we cancelled it at least a week prior to the event , i can only apologise to your friend if he was given wrong information the day before
as for runners - as mentioned we could all do with more bums on seats but we are building and of course we are open 7 days per week with more than one game on some days
as with anyone else on here drop in sometime and i will get you a drink

Matt,

I wasnt slating BS at all, far from it, the runners there are very good and yes it is great that they never cancel. However, at Stanleys the value was terrific.. £3200 one Friday if i remember correctly on a £10 re buy. £1400 first prize for a possible investment of a tenner? Letting people build the pot whilst just sitting there.... that was value. Gunwharf, BS and Duffs have split the players... there arent enougth players in Pompey to support 3 venues.. fact, that was the point i was making.
