I limped with the kk because it was very aggro table wwho was constantly trying to punish limpers. I dont think opponent would shove ak there so its either qq or aa (im not even sure he shoves qq there). could i get away from it??
i called feeling that he probly has aa and would be a cooler, the reason i calld is cos iv always said i cant lay down kk preflop, but is there an exception with this case due to the opponent?
p.s. im not looking at this as a bad beat thread, i simply want to learn.

Putting down KK in cash is -EV.

u didnt do a lot wrong there, depends what info u got on player, but a lot of time at that level your gonna get shoves with any pp or ak, aq type hands so get it in and hope its best... if not reload and crack on...

Snap Call. If its an agro table you are sooooooooo far ahead of his range. He dont usually shove AA, more likely a lower PP or AK. Unlucky...reload :)

i pretty much did snap call.
Reason i felt it had to be aa is because altho it was aggro table us 2 were the nits of the table and i know he has to put me on aa,kk,qq,maybe aks. and only one he shoves qq on is ak. He is definately capable of laying hands like ak,jj,1010 down, wel actually maybe not lay down but would probly call my reraise with rathar than shove, i feel he probly flat calls with qq also.

If urenot willing to play for stacks with KK , even if u feel he has AA , don't reraise but call his raise and evaluate.

U get a lot more info u say . But if that's right the info u get is he has AA , so u should fold. If u have KK in cash u don't need info, u need to get it in if ure willing to play for stacks.

Obv course im willing to play for stacks with kk hence my call, i just wanted some regulars opinions on the hand and if its a possible laydown. Given all info on opponent and the route he took its not his range is definately top 3 hands in holdem. one of them im crushed ones a draw and one of them i crushing.
By:

When: 20 Nov 09 12:24
He can have KK too. So one u crush ( QQ ), one split ( KK ) , one that crushes u ( AA ) and one ure ahead 70/30 ( AK ). That given u take in account what uve allready put in ( not so much here ). So, if ure not completely sure he has AA , it's a must call.

Are there any situations where you should fold KK pre in a cash game?
By:
illian
When: 20 Nov 09 12:31
No, unless ure 100% sure he has AA but as we all know in poker that's not possible.

when i said ones a draw i meant kk, and definately aint got ak. oh well pretty standard anyway, id probly do it every single time. just wanted a few opinions on whether i could get away from it.

Ive played sumpara a bit at 50nl and 100nl and he nearly always has aa imo. The advise on here might be ok against a random but against certain players that you have info on its just wrong.

indeed some players will always have AA here

it's rare to find rocks like this tho

Why ask? It's an instant call. It's poker, you never know for sure until the cards are turned. Pre flop it's a no brainer.

When: 20 Nov 09 16:59
of course you can know lol

or how would you ever get reads and know when to call and fold

a lot is oppo dependent
By:

I agree it is very player dependent, as iv stated i just wanted som opinions and to be honest with my thought process i dont think it would actually be a terrible fold.
heres the thought:
- Table is very agressive excluding me and the guy with aa who are super nits.
- i previously limped reraised with aa like 20 hands b4 this 1, and i t went to show down
- he is playing 12/8 and is pretty much staying away from me
- when i limp raise him he has to be looking at my stats thinking im a nit i must have a massive hand, then that with the fact that he is so tight himself means that he aint shoving a whole stack in without aa or kk. My line of action screams aa or kk (every1 else talking about ak,qq,jj, 1010, he may do this with some of other looser opponents where his hand has more value but not against me.), i feel with ak he wants to see a flop and see if he hits, qq he calls and if no ak on board he will be willing to stack off. everything else he folds (apart from aa, kk)
so if he almost has to have aa or kk then there is an arguement for a fold.

and just to clarify i never stated that i am going to or do fold aces preflop. As i stated in my first post i do NOT fold kk preflop and was wondering whether ppl thought in this situation he has to have aa. I still wont fold it even if its because of missclick% :). JUST WANTED THOUGHTS ON WHAT OTHER HAND THIS PARTICULAR PLAYER WITH THESE STATS AND THIS SCENARIO WOULD SHOVE WITH.

There are people who 3 bet like .5% of hands at 2.5/5. And it is amazing how many times regs do something like 5 to 15 and when you reraise to 45, they raise to 75 or 80 with AA. Sometimes you really can fold KK.

Of course I forget this as soon as the low flop comes, and go bust every time against the regs, though I do get away from the .5% guys.
