There are lots of things Betfair could do to improve the site, but the one and only thing that really matter is : THIS SITE NEEDS MORE PLAYERS !!
|
|
By:
To get more players, they need to improve the site!

Bring back the 1750gtd. $10 buyin, 150 runners + every night.
For small stake players it was the nuts, plus when we busted out early headed straight to STTs etc. Asides from that i just think the satellite info aint great and ffs get rid of some of the STT lobby stuff. I'd like to know how many deepstack tourneys have been played! |

from a long time low stakes regular:
cash - i dont lay so cant comment but there seems to be plently of players, and not too many complaints stts - cluttered lobby, short of a few players at low to mid range even in then evening in the non turbo dept mtts - seems disorganised, would prefer a stable, regular schedule heavy processor usage - i dont have an old computer but the heavy workload added to an average connection (due to location) means i reularly disconnect. customer service - i think a lot of the betfair poker forum used to feel somehow empowered, which was always a plus for a lot of people. now it just feels like we are ignored. have we seen the last bfwcop??? i hope not but i cant see much bf involvement in the future in things like this. blackjack - why? thats not the betfair way there used to be a real community spirit around here, its still exist, just, but not because of betfair, but because of the people here |

I hope someone listens to you mavis because what you are saying would definitely help increasing traffic to the site.
BIGGER TOURNEY GUARANTEES = MORE FOR ME TO WIN :) ......I hope ;) |

the best improvment they could possibly make is to actually respond to this thread, its a balanced and well put argument, if they choose to ignore it as a few bleating players having a whinge they are sadly very mistaken as those few do represent the views of the silent majority

Super post mavis and think youve covered the majority, resolution of your points would make a huge improvement
A couple to add: Cash tables ability to auto reload if busto Cash lobby ability to blanket register for games at a certain price (ie 6 handed 1/2) Observer chat (happy for it to be suspended at bubble time) |

u reminded me FMST
Dealem.... 16 Nov 00:24 ...allow to wait at a table without having to open it and click wait, also have a feature where u can pick the "next available" Dealem.... 16 Nov 00:54 and... they should show what tables u r sitting and waiting at. surely basic poke site requirements! |
|
By:
I dont like that everytime I sit in table afterr starting room I have to make preferences correct again and I cant do that at lobby (which is basic feature at every other poker site).... like taking sound off, show 4 colour deck,etc...
This lobby is somehow underestimating players and actually gives very little information about games. it also is not able to modify. One small thing is avatar, it might not sound so important. Avatar might be easier to remember than name and it is pretty important to remember some players for many reasons for (s)hes rock, very nice pl, maniac, etc.. ereyone got own reasons. Fortunately there is notes, but picture would be nice thing too. Idont know about you but I sometimes write like Shakespeare and sometimes nothing, but I allwasy see players at table. |

By:
Brilliant post, Mavis. I'm mainly a cash player so I don't really have too many problems. however, on the odd occasion that I play in a tournament, navigating the lobby is a nightmare.

avatars?
ffs. |

By:
Dibble,
Since Mavis is a name, surely your "mavis for Prime Minister" post requires a capital M? |
|
By:
I too think its a brilliant post and feel that any issues that we have should be put on here in a positive way. I have had an E Mail from one of the Betfair guys on another issue and he is collating as much positive info from here as he can so I do know that it is being looked at and would like to think that they will take on board all the sensible comments.

I mostly play MTT's , so I'll give you my views on your points.
1. MTT Schedule. IMO probably the most important aspect of all on here. There appears to be a good choice of cash tables available, and in cash you can usually get a game of whatever you like. a) Make the $150k WEEKLY at least. EVERY time these tourneys run they ALWAYS exceed the guarantees. I agree with you, but you are wrong when yoy say that they always fill. The 150 k last Sunday only attracted 235 - 240 players. Betfair lost about $ 25 k on that tournament. b) Have a guaranteed $50k at least TWICE WEEKLY, for the same reasons above. RUN IT FOR A MONTH AND I AM ALMOST CERTAIN THE TOURNEYS WILL EXCED THEIR GUARANTEES!! I agree with you and these tournaments will probably get filled. c) Have a daily flagship tourney but ffs make it $20k EVERY DAY, call it what you like but again the tourneys wiill meet their guarantees anyway so it doesn't really matter! Again I agree. d) Run a monthly super MTT, with satts to it all month etc, with a $3-400k+ prize pool. I know how many players sign up to sta.rs etc just to play the millions so I doubt again that Betfair would have much to worry about especially if it was advertised correctly. Isn't this what Betfair is doing now with the 150 k GTD ? And you can't expect Betfair to make it a 300 k GTD when they can't even fill a 150 k GTD ? e) Keep tourneys like the EWS at 12am, this is very popular. Why not run one of these at 6pm too, ok it's a super turbo cr@pfest but it will attract players to the site who should stick around FOR THE REST OF THE EVENING. Don't think anyone can disagree with you on this one. f) Have a good look at introducing hourly (or every 90 mins at the very least) GTD tourneys which range from $3k - $10k. I do not have access to your poker traffic data but Betfair do, and I am sure the brains are able enough to work out when would be the best times to put these on. At the moment there are several tourneys with like a $200 buyin with a guarantee of just $2k!! what is that all about?? If you are going to have a guaranteed tourney then the guarantee surely has got to be at least 50 times the buy in but more like 100 x ?? I agree with you if you are talking about $ 50 - $ 100 buyins. They allready have plenty of small buyin tournaments that fill up, but I think that there is only one daily tornament with more than 50 runners with a buyin of $ 50 or more. Problem is probably that there aren't enough player to fill these tournaments. The solution to most of your points is that THE SITE NEEDS MORE PLAYERS , and it's thye same thing with STT's with a buyin of $ 50 and up. They can take ages to fill and when they finally kickoff you see the same faces at the table every day ! Betfair has made improvements to the site and we have got used to it, but new players that comes from other sites think it's a joke ! My (and many others) biggest problem with this site hasn't been solved though and probably can't be solved with the current software and that is the high CPU usage. It's extremely annoying when my laptop fan is in turbo mode almost all the time. I said this a few weeks after the "new" betfair poker was released about a year ago and I can say it again : THERE IS NO WAY BETFAIR POKER CAN GROW TO BE ONE OF THE BIGGER SITES IN THE WORLD UNLESS THEY SCRAP THIS SH1T SOFTWARE AND DEVELOP A NEW SITE FROM SCRATCH AND WHEN THE NEW SITE IS RELEASED THEY SHOULD LOWER THE R4KE AND FEE WE PAY COSIDEREBLY IN ORDER TO ATTRACT MANY NEW PLAYERS. How the management at Betfair has failed to see this is beyond me ! They revolutionised the betting industry with a new product and reduced commission for the punters. Why not try to do the same thing in the poker world ? |
|
By:
Thank you canary. LMAO at Betfair for banning the word r4ke.
|
|
By:
they dont have to make form scratch eddie, there is plenty of proven sites that must have a price for their software.
i agree the current site is limited by the sheer fact it is cr ap due to its prehistoric pedigree( i also said that at the start), but what does amaze me is how many people actually like it. i cant argue with the facts, there are a lot of players who dont mind it now they are used to it... |
|
By:
Buying another site could solve the problem, but I think the main reason Betfair went solo was because they didn't want to deal with others and if this is the case, developing new software is probably the only way Betfair can grow enough.
|
|
By:
i didnt say "share it" mate.
|
|
By:
and if they can't even make simple tweaks to sort out a bad site they already own then how could they be trusted to design one form scratch lol

SCRAP THE SOFTWARE COMPLETELY- in business terms its like setting up a restraunt in a public toliet. The software stinks. This is Betfairs main problem. Get rid. Invest in quality. Its a players market- why on earth would someone choose to play 5th rate software. Im playing in the dream team and the prospect of having to use BF's software for even 1 tourney a week depresses me.
60%+ gross rb for high rakers- perhaps on a points/bonus release system. If people think this is asking to much- its not. I play on a site with 10x the liquidity and stable good quality software that offers this. But the most important thing is to SCRAP THE EXISTING SOFTWARE nothing will change until this happens. |
|
By:
These suggestions are way too sensible. BF will never go for them. Anyway, the forum is a vociferous minority and BF will probably listen to the silent majority. ie do nothing.

Bring back the 12 plays of Christmas it was always a lot of fun in the past!!!!!!!

Oh and a few lower buy in guarenteed tourneys wouldnt go a miss either

SCRAP THE EXISTING SOFTWARE
im with doombadger 100% on this. count the losses and move on. i dont know much about programming but ive been told the software isnt even windows compatible , hence the need for super laptops to play on it in the first place. betfair is an exchange , not enough to traffic to go it alone with such a sh1tty software |

Propably banning word r4ke is becouse they had campaign fewe months ago and there was r4keback promised to people who come to play again...
I was one of them. Promised % has paid pretty close.. not sure I have not calculated. Problem is they promised quite a lot at 1st of december and I dont see the money. That december part was R4KEBACK WALLET. could be that there has been questions for both of those and so word r4ke is banned. I wouldnt come back to play this room without it. This is ridiculous. Unfortunately their sports is great. At scale 0-10 pokersite 1 and sports 10. They should sell this pokersite to someone and get rid of it. It has been terrible test for them and like e1 who reds this thread notice they have way too much to chance, I dont think it is not gonna happen. Pokerroom is still as pathetic as it was when they bought it from danes. |

in business terms its like setting up a restraunt in a public toliet. :^0 there is a restaurant in chiswick that actually was a public toilet .. |

on my laptop it uses 3-5% of processor, although if the people complaining are multi tabling it uses more?

BF poker players are the lifers of the poker world, they are institutionised. Cake, bonuses, stability etc. dont come into it, lots of players will just stay where they feel comfortable.
|
|
By:
I can guarantee you cake does come into it.. and my laziness to sort out a new cake deal!
