Just download VLC player @

VLC has it's own plugins for playing different movie formats, so it doesn't need any codecs to be installe, It plays almost everything.

i don't know what a M4V file is but i have a free Jodix program that does some converting i wanted. try searching Jodix...

thanks both.

m4v files are itunes' proprietry format and include DRM which makes them a ball-ache to copy onto other devices I have to play my purchased films etc where I want to.

it's effectively a slightly modified mp4 format. the best I could manage was daniusoft media converter for about £25

hopefully it'll do the job.

generally they will be legitimate copies that are on a trial. however they come with a activation code which is the piracy bit.
Always good to have the legit version any way.
