We hit the £1m prize money mark for the season today but Sam Winner is a stark reminder that this sport is not all roses.
One of last season's leading juveniles, we had high hopes for him over fences this season but he fell first time up at Exeter and again at Cheltenham last week.
And I am sad to report that he sustained a fracture of his off fore knee at Cheltenham, and is out for the season.
In fact, it was such a nasty injury that he was only 50-50 of pulling through at one stage. But we sent him to Rossdales Veterinary Hospital in Newmarket and they did a great job with him, and so far, so good in his recovery.
He had two screws inserted to stabilise the fracture.
So while it is a blow for Mrs Yeoman, I am guardedly optimistic that he may be able to race again.
But...

Is a full brother to Tell Massini (a very smart hurdler/chaser who sadly died in the Newbury race won by Aiteen Thirtythree last season) and won his only start in an Irish point back in February, beating Rolling Aces by four lengths, and the runner-up went on to win next time up - in fact we liked Rocky Creek's win so much we bought the first two home. Clearly, chasing will be his game but this trip over hurdles is a good introduction for him under Rules. We have decent hopes for him.

A middle distance winner on the Flat in France in 2009, he had his problems before making his debut for us at Wincanton in February. To be honest, he hadn't been showing us that much before then but he certainly ran ...

When we arrived at Kempton on Saturday, I turned round to Dan and said: "We may as well load the lorry back up and go straight home."
Because the ground was as soft as I have seen it at Kempton in a long, long, while and I very nearly pulled all my horses out.
Horses like Toubab, American Trilogy and Fistral Beach hated it - Fistral wouldn't stay 3m in that ground in an aeroplane - but there were some crumbs of comfort.
I thought Empire Levant ran a smashing race, and he now goes to Aintree, as does Toubab. They are just two of my horses that I can't wait to get on better ground.
But obviously the highlight of the day was Zarkandar.
As I said in Friday's column, he was very difficult when we first got him but the team here at Ditcheat have done a great job of turning him ...

Sam Winner could make a quick reappearance at Chepstow on December 27.
He has come out of the Cheltenham race so well that I haven't ruled out going there with him, but it's only a possibility at this stage.
As everyone knows, I like to be as honest and open with the public as possible, and that is why I immediately mentioned after he won at the weekend that he is not a certainty to go for the Triumph (for which he is the 7.2 favourite on Betfair).
I simply won't risk him on fast ground, and he is a tremendous chasing prospect.
As for some of my other juveniles at this stage, Empire Levant ran a pleasing enough hurdling debut at Newbury, where a mistake at the third last cost him any winning chance he may have had. He is a big, strong backward sort, and he will...
