Yeah would love to know what the odds are for heptathlon:

My rough guess:  Ennis 3/1 v KJT 2/1 v The Field 6/4

Think I saw Bolt 8/11 v GAtlin evens (both have to run)
Report rob_dylan July 28, 2015 6:55 PM BST
betfair has KJT 2/5 v Ennis 7/4.
Report Degs July 28, 2015 7:07 PM BST
That's on sportsbook. No money at all on the exchange yet. Don't know how to call that one, really no idea how fit KJT is. Still a few weeks to go, but I don't think there will be any indicators before the competition. Sadly, some of the events will be at rather unsociable hours.
Report Degs July 28, 2015 10:33 PM BST
Some Heptathlon events at unsociable hours, I should say. All the finals and good stuff are daytime viewing.

I'm pretty sure that Genzebe Dibaba's WR in the 1500m is the first individual WR in a female event pre the systematic state sponsored doping era of the Eastern Bloc and others pre 1990, that was the pre cursor to proper drug testing.  Events like the 400m Hdles, long distance, hammer and triple jump are all post 1990 events, whilst the javelin was redesigned.  It's the first time anyone has even got close.

Report sageform August 23, 2015 5:07 PM BST
Thanks Degs, didn't know about Diamond League. I have always thought that 3 per country is crazy in the World Champs when so many potential medallists don't even get selected. There would be an outcry if Wimbledon or the Open Golf restricted the number from any country.

Same as the Olympics. Some countries dominate certain sports so makes for better international viewing.

Genzebe Dibaba doesn't merit a write-up in today's Racing Post. (maybe because she is 1.16)

The USA will have Francesca Macrory and Sanya Richards Ross in their team with Francis and Felix.Probably too short but will win imo. They had funny results in their trials meaning their bewst runners bar felix weren't in the individual 400m.

I see a couple of kenyans have failed drug tests just as they are wiping the floor in all different disciplines Mischief Steve Backley must of watched his record go there thinking 'bullshiit'

LaShawn Merritt drug cheat runs a personal best. And still loses.

Is it a 2 year ban? Absolutely laughable. That's not a deterrent. I was watching one of the sprint heats they were going along the lanes saying 'back from a ban' 'back from a ban' 'back from a ban'.

You're watching it doubting every performance you see. Sadly.
Report anfeild August 26, 2015 8:57 PM BST
As long as its only a two year ban athlete's will take the risk. Get banned for two years. Also don't know if they are tested as much if at all in that two years. Sport is a complete farce. Unless they can find a way to introduce much longer bans to life ban's the sport is finished. I hate to say this but the Kenyan thing is all to familiar. The javelin i hate to say his eyes looked wrong. Probably nothing in it but who knows. Cycling mostly cleaned up its act unless athletics doe's something similar it will suffer.

I watched athletics religiously but now really could not careless. Sicken that in the 100m three athlete's had served ban's. What must a clean athlete thinking lining up against this. It is just a nonsense and Coe will make no difference. Either get together and make athlete's sign up to life bans for cheating or you may as well forget about the sport.

Ugen and proctor have both jumped pretty well. KJT is the most talented but mentally she is awful.
Report sageform August 28, 2015 1:44 PM BST
All very capable but surely you try to start a few centimetres behind the board and then get closer each jump once you are in a strong position. Well done Procter though to find so much improvement in the fourth round. We may well be on the way to two more golds today.
Report asparagus August 28, 2015 1:54 PM BST
Obviously in an ideal world that's what you do. I don't think it's quite as easy as that though. Proctor and Ugen had very marginal no jumps. KJT actually did have a valid jump in the first round but bottled it two strides from the board, decelerating and then ending up well behind the board. She then proceeded to have a big no jump and then repeated her 1st round effort in the 3rd round. Effectively 6 rubbish jumps when it mattered. 3 here and 3 in the heptathlon. Be great to see Proctor win.

Great all round effort by GB ladies. If it had been European only we would have won 200m 400m(christine the only Euro in the final), both relays, Heptathlon, Pove Vault and Long Jump plus second place in 800, 1500 and third in the hammer and Long Jump. We only failed to get a finalist in the Marathon, Triple Jump and the 100 metres.
Men were a bit more mixed with European bests in 200m, 400m, 1500m 5000m and 10000m plus Long Jump Pole Vault and the 4x400 relay but no finalists in several events including amazingly the 100m. So GB could not muster a single finalist in either 100m event.

So if it had been European only we would have won 15 Gold Medals. Not bad.
