Great write up as always MC. For me though i think Quintana will want to take time, and send out a message of intent as soon as possible, and as long as he is feeling no ill effects from thursday, he should win win today. Got a feeling we might see something big from him today, he is favourite but 11/4 seems fair enough for easily the best climber here.

Evans had full support from the team yesterday, and he still couldn't win against a non-climber and young Wellens. I think if Quintana is going to turn the screws on this stage than Evans will blow-up, however Quintana will be riding in discomfort from his crash and may just be happy to make the selections, knowing there will be opportunity for a destructive turn to take time back on those above him in the GC, later in the race, perhaps when he is feeling strong. Nevertheless, I've back him at 3/1 and added Rolland since he showed he wants to make something happen with an attack in stage 5.
Good luck to all, SP |

The reason Evans couldn't beat Matthews yesterday (or Wellens) was that the last 700m were almost flat. If there has been anything resembling a climb Evans would have taken the stage fairly comfortably I'm sure.
The final kms today are steep. Possibly too steep for Evans but I can't see him being out of the 3. |

The climb was 8.5kms long and yr talking about the final 700m.

I was SO close to a 200/1 winner there with Kiserlovski!

Did you not go E/W -- I was sure you went E/W?
Good ride from Rolland, finished in 15th after hitting the wall, but solid work on the front for so long. Happy to have had Quintana ride through that stage without any major signs of discomfort, and not losing any more time to Evans. Didn't see that coming from Kiserlovski, never rated him much. It was a much shorter stage for Ulissi at 179kms, his preferred distance, and he is clearly showing what good form he is in after confirming his stage 5 win into Viggiano. SP |

What a fantastic stage this was and is why we all love cycling.
Your heart was in your mouth , the tension was tremendous, could Arredondo hold on, could Rolland hold on. Wow Great write ups MC Do you get the feeling that Quintana is holding a little back here for the final week? Loving this Giro !! |

Cedar - I think Quintana is not at 100% yet after his crash on Thursday. We should see the real Quintana once we get into the really high mountains. The profiles of some of the Week 3 stages are brutal and now Purito is gone he should be able to make some real time on everyone else - if he's in top shape.
SP - Kiserlovski came to my attention climbing for Horner. Some of his spells on the front were awesome and I thought he could go really well if given leadership. I'm on Kiserlovski in the outright as I said in the "Giro contenders" thread, im on at 300/1, 250/1 and 150/1 but I think that's a bit beyond him. I would have preferred backing him top 10 but the best price was only 5/4 other than 888.com who went 3/1 but I cant get a bet on with them. He will have been helped yesterday by having Arrendondo out in front. Not sure whether he will be able to maintain his form for the whole 3 weeks but I've been very impressed so far. |

The other thing that went well yesterday was being able to lay Rolland at odds on after backing him at 40s. He was trading odds on even after it was clear he wasn't going to stay out as they hit the steep ramp at about 400m.

i have an interesting match bet at the moment with Kiserlovski V Aru only seconds between them
Does anyone know the ruling on match bets as i have another with 2 DNFs in a match up? Is it void or whoever gets furthest? |
|
By:
Think its void if they are both DNF. Which side of the Aru/Kiserlovski mb are you on?

i am on Kiserlovski @ evens
