This is an astonishing ride following up yesterday's time trial. I've had to have a few quid on him for the Tour at 40/1. He won't be that big by the time he gets to the top of this hill.

MC you took the words right out of my mouth, was just about to write the same. Looks in amazing shape, Sky have to pick him for the TDf, as much as froome would rather he wasn't there. With Porte out of sorts he has to go as froome's number 2. That was just amazing pulling on the front for a full 7km up a climb! And his TT yesterday was superb too, Phinney said he thought he had rode a really good TT yet he was over a minute down Wiggins over 20km! And like you say in the shape he is now in the 40/1 looks huge, if picked he is sure to be in contention.

It was just phenomenal. I can't believe the speed he was going there. He was shedding riders out the back like he had a whole train riding for him. I actually think he looks in better form that before 2012. Be interesting to see what he brings to the Dauphine *if selected*

He did say coming here that he had to show what he could bring to the TDF this year, as his form hadn't been great and the team had a lot of riders to choose from, so he is certainly laying down a bit of a marker. When i saw him on the start line for the TT, i thought he had lost too much weight, you could see his ribs sticking out his back, but he is clearly just in great shape, and going down in weight has not cost him any of his power. He has done so little climbing since winning the TDF that I would imagine that after this week and the dauphine, his condition will only improve a good deal more. Froome will obviously be the number one, but looks like sky will have a very strong number 2 again this year, and could well be challenging for 2 steps on the podium again.
