Why is Rodriguez not fav now???

He has shown to be the king of the mountains so far and there are no more timetrials.

odds are the wrong way round imo.

climbs to come wont suit purito as much but yes i agree think purito should be evens or shorter at this point. he can stay on the wheel and nick victories. contador doesnt look like having the strength for a big epo acceleration like the old days.

You guys are watching a different race from the one I'm watching. And you are ignoring all the evidence in front of your very eyes. I've tried to advise you. Throw your money away
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg August 31, 2012 8:24 PM BST
Laugh yr totally nuts clay. the evidence in front of our eyes is that purito has been the best climber so far and has never looked in the slightest difficulty at any stage. what race have u been watching??!
Report ClayDavis August 31, 2012 8:31 PM BST
Contador is getting better and better as the race unfolds and the rest of the Tour will suit him down to the ground. Rodriguez always likely to throw in a shocker somewhere along the line - Contador won't.
Contador doesn't even seem concerned about Rodriguez. He is only worried about Froome
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg September 1, 2012 12:02 AM BST
'not concerned' - dont be ridiculous
Report ClayDavis September 1, 2012 6:38 AM BST
Evidence Denis, Evidence. The other day when Contador attacked and Rodriguez went with him he kept looking round all the time. Not interested in winning the stage or trying to shake Rodriguez. But seeing if he was putting time into Froome. In his interviews with Spanish media he bangs on about Froome all the time. He rides close to Froome.
That may change but he doesn't seem concerned by Rodriguez
Report bb66 September 1, 2012 11:41 AM BST
I've no money in the GC market, but if AC is still concerned of Froome it seems to be wrong judgement, he hasn't been able to save his form of the TdF. Agree that value looks to be in Purito, would suggest that chances are rather equal for both to win.
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg September 1, 2012 2:01 PM BST
clay u are hilarious. u really think contador could've gone with rodriguez??!!Laugh
Report layingisthewayforward September 2, 2012 1:59 PM BST
Just watched the highlights from yesterday... Rodriguez again showed he is the stronger climber..

Price has gone from 2/1 to a shade under evens... Although I'm a cycling novice having been watching the grand tours for about 3 years now, I can only see one winner here..
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg September 2, 2012 2:15 PM BST
only the blind and Claydavis cant see that Purito is streets ahead of the rest and will win this Vuelta barring disaster

if they awarded prizes for self-delusion claydavis would have a mantlepiece full.
Report KIMBLE September 2, 2012 10:37 PM BST
4-6 is still some price on purito, he will not crack in the mountains, crash is the only risk (that and a failed dope test Shocked)
Report Sir Denis Eton-Hogg September 2, 2012 11:46 PM BST

Can't believe i was starting to doubt the great man.

CONTADOR THE WARRIOR  WILL STILL WIN THE VULETA Cool
Report SwingingPick September 4, 2012 6:26 PM BST
No where in that article does he state he WILL win, to be fair. He is backing himself to be sure, but in top-class athletes this is the kind of talk you would expect, and on paper he still has at least one good opportunity to attack Purito. He has been a real fighter in this race and his fights with Purito have made what is a truly enjoyable stage race. Having layed him from the outset, I'm not entirely confident I won't need any insurance because he will do as he states, I would think.

Cheers,
SP

the market. what happened?
Report GoBallistic September 5, 2012 5:38 PM BST
There was a large break with a few Saxo riders. Contador attacked on a Cat 2 climb, dropped everyone and got across to the break. His team and then Tiralongo drove the break on while Rodriguez was isolated behind, soon 2 mins down and not on his best day. Only Valverde of the other GC riders was with Rodriguez (and not helping) - everyone else was even further back. Valverde eventually attacked Rodriguez and with the help of his own teammates almost caught Contador who was on his own for most of the final climb
