"We have reached the Pyrenees! But this is more of an appetiser than a mountain stage proper. Things will get going at kilometre 116 with the ascent to the Port de Lers, with 11.4 km at 7%. Then comes the Mur de Péguère, which is making its Tour debut and could deal some serious damage too: some sections are close to an 18% gradient, with 10.8% at the finish! Nevertheless, the distance to Foix will make great climbers hesitate. In my opinion, this is more of a stage for all-rounders such Voeckler and Chavanel. Or maybe a 50 man strong group with the freshest riders in it..."
HoD won't be happy. Fancy Sanchez for this, he showed he's up for taking a stage today, and yesterday, but this is possibly more his cup of tea, it looks like a stage where you need a climber who can get home from a break or hang in there himself. Also think Rui Costa and Jerome Coppel could earmark this stage as an opportunity to make their mark on this tour.

Betting pre-start is a tricky one. You have to choose between the break caught or staying away. With the pace Nibali, Evans, Sky will go up the last climb (very steep at the top), you think that any break will get caught?
Nibali is the best descender but must be getting a desperate man. Wiggo is no slouch down hill and following is easier than getting away but Nibali could grab a few seconds. Sagan 100-1 with PP looked of interest but Cat 1 might be beyond even him.... and they've chopped him to 33-1 now.
I might have £1 on ... errr .... Paulinho (?)

100/1 Sagan - raging I missed that. Even with a Cat1 climb it's a crazy price. Spending too much time with the wife and kids on the weekend, that's my problem.
Think I'll try to wait until tomorrow and see how the stage is developing before I back anyone. Got stung the last 2 mountain stages backing too many guys pre-stage. Once they don't make the break you're bet is dead in the water.

Had to get the bets on early for tomo's stage cos I'm doing the Sky Ride, Manchester. Not sure what time I'll get back but hopefully in time to see the majority of the stage.
Done Sanchez 18/1, Rui Costa 40/1 & Coppel 100/1

I'll still go for the climbers here with those two category 1s. Could be a day for the riders a little lower in the GC.Menchov 150-1Leipheimer 150-1Scleck 66-1Valverde 25-1Little e/w on each
So the markets were up by 12.40am? I was checking constantly over the course of the evening until I went to bed just after midnight.
What is the point of receiving gloss advertising emails from Betfair if you can't take what is considered a premier sporting even seriously? Is it any worth complaining, and to whom? Do this company have any sort of complaints policy? Do they reply to comments such as these? Let me know here, and I'll email whoever I have to.

well interesting stage this and think we may see some action even though the last summit is 60km from home...looks a real climbers day and think if the riders can get away they can hold on...
anyone not like the fact wiggo led out boasson hagen yesterday?? today is a big stage and he should be saving his energy for the climb he is going to be broken on
the last climb today is going to test wiggo i have no doubt - can nibali or evens find the legs to break the rhythm of team sky and isolate wiggo?? and let froome chase the maillot jaune??
i think they are going to try...except froome of course who isn't allowed to
one thing that is for sure wiggo will get broken today the climb is brutal and just the sort he won't like...

Just got this reply so I at least have confidence of getting some sort of decent service.
Thank you for your feedback regarding the Tour De France markets.
I raised you concerns with our Market Operations team who have advised that the previous stages were all loaded between 19:00 - 21:00 the night before but unfortunately we were not able to do the same for this stage due to workloads. Apologies for any inconvenience caused and I have been assured that the remaining stages will be up between 19:00 - 21:00 the night before.

Frank Schleck has been getting better as Tour has gone on. i thought he climbed much better on last Alps stage....but 60k to finish off last climb? He is always likely to be outsprinted

We can only follow the tour trackers until we have live pictures.
13:12 Result of first climb The points for the col du Portel were won by: 1. Voeckler (EUC) 5pts 2. Kessiakoff (AST) 3pts 3. Martinez (EUS) 2pts 4. Vande Velde (GRS) 1pt
13:10 Cofidis leading the peloton The bunch is all together with about 1km to climb and Cofidis is the team that's at the front of the peloton. Voeckler and Taaramae are now on the attack near the top of the col du Portel.
13:08 Coppel's crisis was shortlived Coppel (SAU) has rejoined the peloton after being dropped briefly. The seven escapees have been reeled in after only 1km at the front of the stage.
13:07 Coppel also dropped The rider in 14th overall is one of many riders who are losing contact with the peloton on the col du Portel.
13:07 Seven in the lead At the 28km mark, seven men have a small advantage on the peloton.
13:06 Taaramae's move is over The Estonian's escape has been nulified and he is back in the peloton which is around the 27km mark.
13:05 Several in pursuit Taaramae Bernaudeau (EUC) and Farrar (GRS) have also been dropped as the bunch ascends the first climb of the stage. Taaramae is still at the front of the stage and there are several men trying to bridge the gap to the Cofidis rider.

Paulinho in the break (lucky guess eh?), Sagan with him up the road (surely to help Nibali in a while ... doesn't need the sprint points), and Nibali himself lookin good.
I've backed all three .... but often count my chickens!!

The 11 leaders are now 2'00" ahead of the peloton.
Here's a reminder of who is on the attack:Philippe Gilbert (FRA) BMC, Cyril Gautier (FRA) EUC, Gorka Izaguirre (ESP) EUS, Peter Sagan (SVK) LIQ, Sebastien Minard (FRA) ALM, Eduard Vorganov (RUS) KAT, Sandy Casar (FRA) FDJ, Steven Kruiswijk (NED) RAB, Luis Sanchez (ESP) RAB and Martin Velits (SVK) OPQ.
Really strong break this one. If this gets any further time, think this one could stay away.

I only could get Sanchez at 16.00 here this morning. If I'd have been able to do so overnight, sure I'd have gotten close to 20 which would have bettered the 18s out there from the firms. Betfair can't use this as an advert where we can get better prices - if they don't put a market up in the first place. My only comfort is I can trade out soon for a free ride.

it can be an advantage too though jumper. the bookies don't have a clue on cycling and are blindly copying betfair for prices in most cases. if betfair goes up late, there are often glaring errors in the bookies prices.

Yeah 100/1 in a couple of places yesterday for about 45 mins. No market here at the time. I dread to think what you could have gotten on him if they had a market up. Probably double that, for small money admittedly but a 200/1 winner is a 200/1 winner, even to a tenner.

Funny how betting clouds the mind. I thought the stage 2 days ago was rubbish because I had no-one in the breakaway. Today I had a small bet on Sanchez so was glued to it!
Sprinters' stage tomorrow - Sagan has to be backed.
