If any of you werent aware FX have been showing season 14 of the ultimate fighter and are showing the finale live at 1am saturday night sunday morning. facebook is also streaming all the prelims as per. if you've not watched the series then theres only really 2 matches that will garner a gambling interest as the rest is all the cast fighting each other.

Marcus Brimage vs Stephen Bass - Im going for Brimage as a decent underdog here. My reasoning is he landed some decent shots to experienced Bryan Caraway on the show. On the final episode of the show Caraway showed he had an awesome chin. The reason he lost was that he was awful on the mat. I reckon he'll have been training hard since the show and tuning up either his grappling skills or takedown defense and will keep the fight standing long enough to tko or ko bass. Bass didn't look like all that great of a wrestler and with the size and athleticism of Brimage I think he'll struggle to get him down.
Brimage via T(KO)

Bryan Caraway vs Dustin Neice - Both these guys are experienced in the sport but whilst never having fought in the spotlight of the UFC Caraway has fought under the Zuffa banner of WEC before. This ought to be a cakewalk for the talented Caraway, who as mentioned earlier has an awesome chin should he get tagged; however from the portrayal of him on the show he does struggle with nerves and his first experience of the ufc may daunt him. Neice's main weapon seemed to be his ground game and i strongly believe that Caraway is the better grappler and would not only nullify his submissions but win the fight this way. Caraway's nerves may be there however I think he'll get this to the mat early, advance position and sink in a rear naked choke.
Caraway via Submission

Jonny Bedford vs Louis Gaudinot - I was expecting big things from Gaudinot after he beat Scotland's Paul McVeigh to get into the house however as a natural 125er this caught up with him. Whilst being technically one of the better fighters in the house I think the UFC's 135 division will not be kind to him. He lost to a tall gangly type fighter in the house and Jonny Bedford is the same build. Bedford posseses inferior standup but stronger wrestling. I expect this to go the distance in a frustrating 3 round decision with Bedford on top doing little.
Jonny Bedford via Decision

TJ Dillashaw vs John Dodson - Like Caraway, TJ also trains with current UFC fighters Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez and Chad Mendes at Alpha Male however Dodson also trains with elite fighters over at Jacksons MMA and will be cornered by the game plan master. The key to this fight will be weather or not TJ can takedown Dodson. If he can Dodson posseses the scramble to his feet immediately. In upset fashion I fancy the smaller Dodson to use his speed to take a decision 2 rounds to 1 with TJ likely pinching a frame early.
John Dodson via Decision

Dennis Bermudez vs Diego Brandao - What can I say about Diego...the guy has issues; he's bath sh1t crazy haha. He comes out with flying knees, literally anything; and the best thing is it gets results. 3 vicious KO's to get to the final. However if Bermudez can somehow survive then his wrestling approach may takeover. Brandao throws big punches and will likely wind half way through the second round. One would hope he has worked heavily on his cardio if this is the case. Bermudez got lucky on the show surviving a stand up war with heavy handed Akira getting embroiled in a slugfest. I would hope he's clever enough to avoid this against Diego. Even if he does avoid the slugfest I still expect to see him looking up at the lights.
Diego Brandao via KO

Tony Ferguson vs Yves Edwards - One of 2 fights were both are actual UFC fighters as opposed to TUF'ers. Yves has showed some flashy standup in the past but it would again be unwise to do that against Ferguson. Similar to Brandao he throws heavy hands and is sizeable for the division. I expect him to overcome the reach advantage and KO Yves early.
Tony Ferguson via KO

Michael Bisping vs Jason Miller - Ahh the English rose Bisping; he got the Vegas crowd against him more than usual tonight at the weigh-ins. After coming in 1/4 of a pound over, he promptly told the crowd "Boo all you want, I dont give a F@ck". I think he's realised the Yanks will never like him and he isnt going to bother trying as he flipped the crowd off to go make weight. I think that with a healthy weight cut Bisping would win this fight via decision, circling and using his superior footwork to avoid takedowns and create angles. With the problems making weight his cardio could be zapped and with this being a 5 round fight that could create big problems. Mayhem has gone the distance recently going 25 minutes with former Strikeforce MW champ Jake Shields so will have no problems lasting the duration. As a Bisping fan I fear that it might not go the distance as if Miller gets this to the ground despite Bisping's decent submission defence he will be submitted. MB does have underrated takedown defence and in the first 3 rounds before cardio becomes an issue he should stave off this threat. However as the figh goes deeper and he becomes more tired it may well hit the deck with sufficient time to get the sub. I see no way for Bisping to end this fight inside 25 minutes, he does not possess a great deal of power in his punches and likely won't want to go to ground to inflict ground and pound. Equally he cant submit Miller whose BJJ is on another level.
This fight goes 1 of 2 ways for me; Bisping via decision or Miller via sub.

there isnt a fighter in the ufc or the world that i would back to beat bisping by submission,i very very much doubt mayhem will be able to hold him down for any significant time and thats IF he can get him down. Bisping to win this comfortably for me,he will do what he did to akyama, leben and dan miller.

I have emailed betfair to see if they will add the 2 tuf final fights, seems poor they don't currently have them after a 12 week competition

mehmet would you not have backed wanderlei to submit bisping back at ufc 110? with an extra 10 seconds on the clock theres no doubt that bisping would have either tapped or been choked unconscious. also whilst he hasnt looked good in the ufc jake shields an excellent grappler was saved by the bell in his mw scrap vs mayhem miller. bispings ground game is extremely underrated but mayhem is on another level dude grappled with jacare in strikeforce and didnt get embarrassed.

Mayhem Miller has a chance to submit him, if you look at just his record alone you should be able to fathom that out.  I reckon he will.

The amount of adverts they have on FX is crazy, it is really annoying when you dont hear the corners because of adds

well this event was decent. the diego vs bermudez fight was on a par with diaz vs daley as the best round of mma this year. the bisping vs miller fight was horrible; but well done bisping getting the job done after what must have been a tough weight cut. the adverts are particularly annoying but in fairness this is nothing to do with fx its cos its been simulcast from spike in america and they take ad breaks all the time. roll on next week for 140 :)

a bit different i think, anyone can get caught in a guillatine, mike prob wasnt expecting wandy to go for that so wasnt defending it,his submission defence is second to none, never seen him look in danger on the ground. Mayhem had his legs triangled and still couldnt manage to get his back off the cage, bisping is so under rated it is rediculous. How anybody could watch those 2 fighters in recent times and think that mayhem could win that fight is beyond me,they fight 10 times and mike wins 10 times. Absolutley demolished him!!

i know what his record is itchydon,i know who jason mayhem miller is!!! I "fathomed" out that he didnt have a chance of submitting him. People who say Bisping has no power in his punches must be blind, look at the likes of leben, akyama, wandy, dan miller and now jason millers faces.

Almost a flawless prediction, gj TC

bisping vs maia next, who's going to be first to tell me that bisping will get submitted?? If people thought mayhem had a chance of submitting him then you will be on to a sure bet with maia wont you? Do people rate maia? Normally people say bisping will get beat easily and then when he wins easily people say that the guy he was fighting was past it,so lets have your predictions early.......

He's too big for Maia....seriously. bigger, stronger, taller, far better standup. hopefully a big ko win.

Good matchmaking from the UFC....will give Bisping some more title legitamacy and it will work out well ie Silva comes back from injury and hopefully gets into another 5 round bruising war with Sonnen. That should soften him up just a tad for a title fight with Bisping in the Fall (obviously dependent on several factors).
Report razz December 18, 2011 2:19 PM GMT
yeah i got bisping, maia is going to have a hard time taking bisping down, and will get outpointed on the feet, even if it does go to the floor i think bisping's ground and pound will neutralize some of maia's submissions, for bisping it's the easiest way to a title shot for him
Report mehmet j mook December 18, 2011 7:11 PM GMT
again though i feel a lot of negativity towards mike and the fight, dont understand it,who would everyone like the ufc to pit him against? Someone you feel would defo beat him? I got sonnen in with a chance and poss munoz but they fight each other and also why would the ufc want bisping to beat silva??!! Surely its better for them to have the besst mma fighter in the world as there champ? I honestly would not put a penny on anyone to beat bisping other than silva, think he matches up well with sonnen and would be a close fight and id back him to beat munoz. Hendo would more than likely beat him again if he dropped to MW but that fight has already happened.
Report razz December 20, 2011 12:10 AM GMT
a few people at mw could give bisping real problems, sonnen, belfort obviously, hendo, maybe munoz and johnson too. although in a lot of them it could be closer than people think
Report mehmet j mook December 20, 2011 7:58 PM GMT
forgot about belfort,i think he would beat bisping aswell, with the others munoz fights sonnen so he couldnt have had either of them and hendo is fighting at LHW at the moment and has already fought bisping so again i cant really see peoples problems with the fight being made,id love to have seen him fight sonnen, dont think munoz is quite at bispings level at the moment and id hate to see him matched against vitor who would knock him out imo.
