I think the form of Bjerre and others (Kasparak etc) in the British League merely underlines how far we are now behind Sweden and Poland and other emerging Leagues.

Look at the GP and how many of them (Hancock,Crump,Gollob,Holta et al) now do not race in the UK at all for a League side...

The Elite League IMHO has to follow the lead of Sweden and Poland and designate specific race days to avoid the GP circus - as Poland race on a Sunday and Sweden on a Tuesday not exclusively BUT primarily it kind of discounts somewhat Sky's preferred Monday slot....

In my opinion therefore the logical UK Elite League day should be a Thursday....my view would be to try it and market it for a season......with all tracks having an option day of maybe a Monday as a back up.Let the Premier League then try to focus on weekend racing - offering opportunity to all fans to better pick and choose dates...

Of course THE UK has one major VESTED INTEREST group that the Swedes and Poles DONT have to deal with....namely GREYHOUND racing.....and that has always been the major stumbling block....

I remember well the days of the old Cradley Heath - when despite in the early 80's attracting average gates of 5,000 - the Stadium made more money from 3 times weekly dog meetings attended by a few hundred due to betting turnover and levy support and dog sales.....

Unti the UK can build purpose built stadia like the Swedes an Poles our Leagues will suffer in comparison and we will fail to develop the young talent that the Swedes,Aussies,Danes and Poles - and now the Russians seem capable of churning out at will!
