i thought i was the only one who noticed the significant drop in production, the atmosphere in the crowd seemed non existant, possibly due to karitonov and cormier being relatively unknown among casual fans, the mismatch between king mo and roger gracie was laughable, gracie proved he cant compete in mma at a very high level, he'd be better suited going back to heavyweight imo.
the cung le, belfort fight really surprised me as cung le hasnt fought for ages, and is relatively inexperienced compared to belfort. also he is getting pretty old, while belfort is still in his prime, both have suspect chins tho imo so i guess anything can happen but you have to really favour belfort in this one his boxing should prove way to much for cung. the whole gp is turning out to be a bit of an anticlimax too. the blanco fight looked another mismatch to me healy looked significantly bigger, blanco should drop a weight class asap imo, his striking looked great but as soon as the wrestler got hold of him he didnt stand a chance. mw was once there strongest division, and now look at it, jacare gased horribly and for such a great grappler seemed to have a hard time keeping rockhold down. surely next year ufc will dissolve strikeforce as we know it and intergrate all the champions and elite fighters into the ufc, i think strikeforce will be turned into a platform in which succesfull fighters move into the ufc from it. i think mousassi is thinking of boxing in the olympics, god knows why... he's an elite striker but his style leaves him susceptible to wrestlers, i think he has/or had a deal with M1 so a deal with the ufc seems unlikely in the near future |
