Think they are doing a good job. BBC has too many "experts". A big coup for C4 was to get Michael Johnson, and not recruit Colin Jackson. Only downside is the adverts.

Are you nuts? The coverage is indescribably awful. The front man knows nothing and even suggested Pistorius was a hurdler. Johnson is clearly embarrassed and is a shadow of his BBC self as he has no-one remotely capable to have a discussion with. The field event coverage varies between being very late and non-existent. Dean Macey hasn't the remotest amount of insight, he merely spouts cretinous blokey anecdotes. Even though the BBC has the cringeworthy Jackson, it also has Storey, Dickenson, Cram, Edwards et al who are miles and miles better than anyone on Channel 4.

Wessex - totally agree. Where do they find these front men? This guy is cringe worthy! Michael Johnson is the only light in this dark coverage. Amazes me how much it has taken away my enjoyment.

Can't believe they are using T4 presenters to host athletics. Cringworthy stuff at times. BBC s the home of athletics.
By:
agree - bloody awful
yesterday had that 'otis' bloke on, today have the guy from t4 who presented 'tool academy'..that was about his level just abysmal |
By:
i wonder if we'll see andi peters and edith bowman presenting 2012
By:
otis presenting athletics .. out of his depth
should be on blue peter talking about making robots from cornflakes boxes |
By:
too right |
By:
agree with Wessex - not seen much so far but enough to know that the coverage is woeful - bring back the BEEB.
By:
It is unwatchable. The adverts are on longer than the athletics and who on earth chose that joke of a presenter. Thankfully Eurosport are showing it.

Did ch4 have to beat BBC in a sort of bidding war?
If they did, it seems odd they'd put in a bunch of amateurs to voice the programme. I may be old fashioned but I don't like hearing 'experts' saying 'you were right there, mate' and 'that was one hell of a race' etc. |
By:
Apparently BBC wanted to put a lot of the off-peak sessions on the red button so C4 got the nod they have the rights for 2013 as well but thankfully not the Olympics of course.

that link has been blocked by ch4, Ashley.
probably embarrassed by it! |

I liked the highlights show. Showing them in the time sequence rather than just showing any brits in medal contention first, which makes it obvious who has won the best medal.
I also thought this guy presenting was very good unlike the chap who presents in the live show.Don't know there names. The mens 100 metres was introduced by quality experts Michael Johnson & Tyson Gay ...... however the actual Channel 4 presenter dear oh dear ![]() |
By:
wonder did that presenter that was on the first few days get the bullet
By:
I actually felt sorry for the black presnter - it was embarassing to watch. I thought todays presnter was ok and if they had him from the start people would say the coverage was okayish
By:
With a bit of luck he's gone back to the Gadget Show..
I'm also liking the lack of sycophantic drivel concerning British athletes the beeb is famous for (except for this morning with Ennis) |

Otis fired!

That vid is hilarious. I miss him already.
By:
he was awful, at least they recognised it and took some action
will never have the same feel as the bbc when they need to put ad breaks in, |
By:
wow that video is cringeworthy from start to finish!

Does anyone know why there are so many ****** with double barreled names. There are lots Caribbean and USA women athletes, even some UK ones. Do they do it when they get married or do they just think it looks good.
My personal favourite is Perry Shakes-CouncilEstate, |

Failed to call the fallers in the womens 1500 metres . In fact I think they called the faller as coming to win the race . Some show . Only interested in the British girl .
By:
Yeah called the wrong winner home! Barely anything matched under 50.0 lol
By:
Now showing us the womens triple jump . The winning presentation is just finished on the other channel . Bonkers .

at the video |

The commentary was appalling but I loved the co-commentary as Hannah England and Dai Greene were passing tired athletes late on "Yes! Yes! Yessssss!"
Superb. |
By:
eurosport much better for me, although it was a few seconds behind
liked the commentator getting annoyed at the athletes with double barrel names, and calling some of them thick |
