Value betting stage wins

Does anyone have any strategies on betting the stage wins or top 3 finish? Aside from Cavendish on the pure sprints I'm always at a loss of what strategies to employ. Obviously if one knew which riders were going to be in breakaways that day they could make a fortune since those riders always decline in odds instantly and can be hedged but I don't think anyone ever announces that.
