A bit melodramatic ELG!

American maximum sentences always used by headline writers in this way . When Tyson was on trial every report said 'facing up to 60 years in prison if convicted' .Did 3 years.

Looking it up it seems it is technically Money Laundering , so the potential big sentences have no doubt been designed with Organized Crime in mind.

But in this case it seems likely he will get probabtion and a small fine.

As part of his plea deal, Sonnen agreed to give up his Realtor's license and pay a $10,000 fine, said Michelle Holman Kerin, the assistant U.S. attorney handling the case.
