Paul Daley built on his winning streak and put away Scott Smith in the first round of their affair with a devastating knockout. The British fighter known as “Semtex” made quick work of Smith, landing bombs in the form of left hooks.

In the first minute of the round, Daley mixed it up a bit, landing kicks and punches, gauging his distance with Smith. A one-two combination early in the opening stanza was the beginning of the end, as Daley landed a right hand that put Smith down. The fight went to ground for just a very brief moment before Smith got back to his feet in an obvious daze.

From here, Smith remained on the defensive while Daley utilized his jab to set up for more effective shots. Daley’s left hook was the death blow that ended the night when his opponent walked right into it. Smith went crashing down to the canvas unconscious and not moving, and the referee stopped the fight at that point.

The official call of the fight was Paul Daley defeats Scott Smith via knockout at 2:09 of round one.

I think people were trying to avoid the result so they could watch it on bravo tonight mate.

Strikeforce was awesome...for one night they took it to the UFC.

When TUF1 was airing you had millions switching channels to watch Bonnar and Griffin go at it.....last night you had people tuning into Strikeforce during the TUF show to watch what was an incredible night. back to normality next week.
