what a shame pride fc is no longer. i know most fighters who fought under that banner now fight in ufc (good ones anyway!) but i think it would be better for the sport if both still existed. I think they could of done some great superfights with pride champs vs ufc champs etc etc. What  do people think?  And does anyone like the 10 minute 1st round rule they had or the no elbows to the head on the ground but knees and kicks allowed to a grounded opponent.?

Pride is very much dead and buried. Soccer kicks were pretty ugly, and 10 mins for a round is too long. I don't miss it.

Brutal, didn't do anything for the marketing of the sport, and it didn't have the same pyschological viewing effect of being in a cage. Fighters wouldn't have as much longevity. Besides, the UFC is a the top of the food chain. If you were any good, wouldn't you already be in the UFC? Unless you're Fedor. And wanted to sit back... (that bit him in the ass.)

Pride had elite fighters from all over the world also some of the most technical fighters aswell and i think its underestimated how much it did for the sport of MMA. The fighters that came out of Pride all pretty much rose straight to the top of the chain when the UFC bought out the organization. Fighters that where brought in from Pride where all world class eg;Rampage, Wanderlei,Spider Silva,Cro Cop, Hendo,Shogun Rua, Sakurba (the gracie hunter) the list goes on and on (even Bob Sapp and Matt Skelton)Grin).

As for there being two organizations and it not workin your way off the mark  Dan Henderson held both the pride light heavy title and the UFC title at the same time (worked for Hendo ) Chuck Liddell went over and fought in Japan in a light heavy Grand Prix four man tournement as a unbeatable UFC fighter to take on the Pride guys and got ko d 1st round by Anderson Silva.
At the time Chuck was knocking everyone out in the UFC and seemed unbeatable didnt last long in Pride fc .
The excitement the Pride fighters brought to the sport of MMA was fever pitch Anderson smashing Franklin to to peices in the clinch in his 1st fight in the cage at the time again Frankilin was unbeatable in the UFC Middlweight division. Cro Cops debut was Highly anticapated he walked out to the pride music and know one could belive he got beat, it was a massive shock at the time in the MMA world. Imo Pride helped to make the UFC what is today and i would of liked to see the two run alongside, As for brutal some would say the same about early UFC events, pride didnt have time to grow and change like the UFC has . All in all i look back at the DVDs and wish it was still about I mean Rampages massive slams, cro cop head kicks, Wanderlei`s wars, I for one loved it.
