A similar if less demanding stage to today's with 2 decent climbs and a downhill finish.
The Laffey is a tough Cat 1 climb and comes fairly early after 77km, this will spread the field out for sure, leaving the usual suspects up front(chasing the breakaway) 50km later we have the Cat 2 Noyer, with a savage downhill, uphill, downhill section to finish, very technical and very dangerous.
Possible winners(and likely breakaway candidates) include Fedrigo and Vinoukorov, so it was slightly dismaying to see Vino ride such a strange race today especially as this stage is made for him(previous winner) Fedrigo will be refreshed after today's non effort and it seems he is concentrating of this stage for his shot at a win, almost certain to be in the breakaway and then he is a 2/1 shot.

I will stink with these 2 against the field, want to desert Vino but he is such a nutter he could well pop up.

Been looking through the field for this and I have about a dozen I could back...

Gotta feel the break will get away and you just have to hope your man is in it.

I usually look through oddschecker from last to first to see if any big odds catch my eye.
Had a little bet on Inaki Isasi Flores as he usually seems to pop up in a group when in the Tour and at the odds he is worth a push, can climb a bit and sprint a bit. Prob wont be sighted but you never know...

Also going for Wegmann and Gerdemann as I feel/hope one of these will be in the break as Milram have said they are going to attack for the next few days. With only a squad of 7 now and news of Milram being no more after this season they should be out to impress.
In decent form this season as well.

My Frenchman will be Vogondy. The top 3 in the betting all seem good picks but are all a bit short for me.

Bit of a lottery who will make the break and there are so many short prices around I do not want to get too involved.

Good luck.

Case of trying to anticipate the cyclists who will try and get themselves in the break. Thrown a few darts on Martin, Le Mevel, Tankink, Brajkovic, Gerdemann, Barredo and Fedrigo. Can see this been a decent stage for Tony Martin...Decent climber, with a fair sprint.

I really like the look of Chavanel. Hugely confident at the moment, and will want the French win on Bastille day.

Don't buy Gesink, think he expended too much energy keeping up with yesterday's blistering pace. Like Gerdemann's chances, he's looked on form throughout the tour so far.

Agreed about gesink but would probably top myself if the unlikely happened and I wasn't on

Who are those two favs in the market - Paulinho and Kiryienka both below 6??? Layed both for fun
Report ExpertBoy July 14, 2010 1:52 PM BST
Attention to Bouet, i saw him riding here in Portugal and he won a stage almost like this one, he finishes pretty well.

I have him at 26 and Rolland at 22 when they were still behind the 4 of the front.

Kirienka is also a good bet.

And im also with Paulinho since he is Portuguese :) Vamos Miúdo!

Hate when the likes of Armstrong bully riders into not trying to chase a break-away. From that point onwards today was always going to be pretty dull.

sweet, one down.

Wonder if they will regret not upping the pace some more on this climb. Only one dropped on the mountain ain't great.

bouet layers nervous now, was up to 100 and is back again, but i think he will fall back on the next hill again
