Certainly a good chance. They have a very strong team lineup this year with Valverde racing plus I think Cobo was targetting this race.
Some other strong teams including Radioshack who are going to isolate Contador and try to work him over - he should still have won last year though
It will be interesting to see what Joaquim Rodriguez can do for Katusha. A lot of people (not me) used to moan that he never got a fair crack of the whip when riding with Valverde but no excuses this season

Question for Flying_V: You went for Thor last year for green, so what do you think about him (and green) this year? Cav seems under par at the mo, what with his dental problems, weight etc.
Any thoughts?

Giles Kaagen was actually first on the Thor train last year. Based on the Omloop win and other Classics form. [podiums at MSR & PR].
There was quite a bit of doubt about Cervelo pre-season.
Turning point for me was actually when Boonen got done again for recreational drugs..and 8/1 just seemed ridiculously big.
It's a bit early this year, but I like Hushovd because he is an all rounder when it comes to the points jersey.
[HTC] Columbia have lost some good riders in Cav's train...so may find it harder to dominate.

Its early days admittedly, but, as an odds on favourite for green in July, Cav's prospects seem a tad wobbly to me. Whereas Thor seems super reliable, year in year out.

Giles...Have backed Boasson-Hagen at 61.0 this year for green. Long shot..good all rounder...etc. Don't think he'll win...but hey..who knows...stupid price.
Cav doesn't look like anything like as dominant as last year and his price is too short IMO. We will see...
[Apolgies for repeat post..if this is one.]

Can EBH win green? He might/might not, but he absolutely WILL win at least one stage - maybe more. He is a beast.
Overall, Thor is where my instinct leads me, but what is his condition after that collar bone mishap? Its all a bit guessy. The parcours looks really changeable and tricky for sprinters, so I feel a modest punt on an outsider for green may be all I do.

Marwood..it was at blue cube...[during the dauphiné]...and long gone now.
Giles...Pretty much my thoughts exactly....Without Boonen & Greipel the field for the green is very small and E/W markets are interesting on Tyler Farrar and maybe one or two others.
Boasson-Hagen is going to "announce himself" this Tour. Be very interesting to see how he goes...and couldn't help myself taking the 600's on the GC market.
No realistic chance ..but if it rains on stage 3 ..anything can happen...
Waiting for the KoTM market to go up..but think that BF are obsessed with the football at the moment.

Shall we just use this as the Green Jersey Thread...?
ps..loved this jingoistic comment from ProCycling Mag re their preview of the Green:
"Hushovd's tactics will include relying on Cavendish's inferior climbing to rob points from the Manxman.."
"Rob points from the Manxman"..???
Unbelievable!
Apparently points earned in the mountatins are somehow "stolen" compared to those earned in the sprint finishes...

Thor is one of my favourite riders and I have backed with the heart a little at the current 6/1 available. He would surely be plenty shorter now had it not been for the injury picked up earlier in the season.
His win at the Norwegian Road Race Championships just there tells me he is strong though, he seemingly put in a great effort.
Strong enough for 3 weeks is a differant matter of course, but he has battled through Tours before and I am sure at 6/1 he will offer a great interest through the course of the race.
