That statement reads to me like it's a done deal. And that they are going with a cheap option who will cost nothing or very little in compensation and who won't demand a big salary.
Time to move some green methinks

What are everyone's thoughts. Done deal for Laws? Hills have cut him to 1.57. Matter of time maybe before they all do. They won't be happy at the Moor though.

Templeton Peck 11 Jan 10:38 I'm awake but am too about to go out. And not confident enough that I'd know what to do. Lay everything or just the favourites?
I use the dutch calc on oddschecker but it only provides 12 selections. Often it will be necessary to lay for pennies at big odds to make the maths work. So I do the short odds and then get my calculator out and do the big ones.

I do not have the slightest clue Ernesto. However I note that SSN are talking about Laws so as a result he might be too short.

I want to have a big lay of Laws but the prospect of an imminent "breaking news on SSN" prevents me.
He just screams out "cheap option" to me. And "been around the block".
Experience has taught me that it's not me making the appointment though.

CLARK - "I can't really make any comment because there is nothing to comment on," said Clark. "I have had no contact with Burnley, and my focus is on preparing the side for Saturday's game with Southend and the game against Bristol Rovers.
"I am concentrating on how we can do better in the second half of the season than we did in the first half."

Wish every market was like this though. Complete no hopers being backed down to great lay prices.
No sorry, the no - hopers are being inerviewed.

That was just exuberance at seeing a NMM like this with 7 faves at the last count. Especially after the Herculean trial of following the Next Scotland Manager Market.
I'm not following them in but your warning is well received. Ta.

**ers green on some of the longshots and am still gutted that I missed out on the laddies palp with Steve rather than Lee Clarke.
Remember the site is down from midnight tonight.
I'm off to check the weather for the games tomorrow and shall pass on any postponement possibilities for more green action.

Meanwhile, the odds drastically shortened on West Ham United assistant manager Steve Clarke yesterday.
But while it is understood the 46-year-old, who was Jose Mourinho's number two at Chelsea, has designs on carving out a managerial career, he is believed to consider the vacancy at Turf Moor unsuitable for him at this time.
Errrrr no......
It was because some tw@t put Steve Clarke up on their main board rather than Lee Clark.
A great example of herd mentality and how prices are affected by rumours. This story has shoretened him again which of course I'm delighted with.

SSN reporting that a decision could be made in the next 24 hours and that it is between Laws and O Driscoll.
No view here on what to do yet, I am merely conveying what they are saying.

Is it me or has the SSN ticker changed from them being the only ones on the shortlist to them just being on the shortlist? I've been out so come in mid-ticker.

It changed from SSN saying Burnley had shortlisted Laws and O'Driscoll to Laws and O'Driscoll being on the shortlist. A subtle but important difference?
Ah, I have Sky +.It changed from SSN saying Burnley had shortlisted Laws and O'Driscoll to Laws and O'Driscoll being on the shortlist. A subtle but important difference?
I think the odds reflect the feeling of Burnley fans who clearly prefer O'Driscoll, whether the board will feel the same is a different story.
They obviously hold Laws in high regard, and he won't cost them anything. Personallly think it's evenmoney take your pick

Templeton Peck 12 Jan 12:18 A Sky reported noted that the Doncaster chairman is in the Caribbean so may be a little early for him to have given the go-ahead for anything.
Ah. Let's put this myth to bed.
I have done a number of deals with the Principal sitting next to his pool offshore. You don't need somebody to be physically present to seal a deal. Trust me.

I was merely pointing out that it was much earlier in the morning for the Doncaster chairman than some may have been aware. Just posting some info.
I don't think I implied that because he wasn't physcially present then nothing could happen. I certainly didn't mean to imply that but I guess it depends on how you interprete the word 'early'.

A morning off, a satisfactory conclusion and no temptation to fiddle with my book.
Even no though still a drift on his price. I suppose it's more unusual having a public shortlist of two.
The reaction to Laws on the Burnley Messageboards couldn't have done him any favours though.

ODriscoll has been taken down to 1.04 by skybet. It is feeling as if this is a done deal to me.
I'm seeing 1.29?
Alex the old wrinkled retainer 12 Jan 13:52 No worries TP. We are friends here.ODriscoll has been taken down to 1.04 by skybet. It is feeling as if this is a done deal to me. I'm seeing 1.29?
The press have called this wrongly today and for me these prices say that both camps think their man has it.
I'm looking at the recent names that have been thrown up, namely Ince and MacKay. It was Ian McGarry who came up with the Mackay piece in the Sun so have shifted a little piece of green to them.
The sky doorstepping of Kilby in the carpark was pretty uneventful beyond the phrase, "we're still interviewing". That could mean 2nd interviews with Laws and SoD or it could mean someone else. Time yet for another plunge as this is a very jittery market. I'd hope that this is dragged out to 10pm when tomorrows papers are out.

Magilton just matched at 42.0 so I don't think it'll take much to spook the market. From what I see on the main forum, people are taking a green position on one candidate to the detriment of the other and then attempting to justfiy that. If someone else comes along they would have to jump on.

And O'Driscoll isn't past the post as Sky have been suggesting.
In fact it wouldn't shock me if we had a double Devon Loch here.
17.08 Nixon
The plot thickens.
A third manager had a call BETWEEN the two interviews today.
16.35 NixonYes, Laws 'has been' interviewed. He is also 'being' interviewed again right now.So it's at the interview stage...And O'Driscoll isn't past the post as Sky have been suggesting. In fact it wouldn't shock me if we had a double Devon Loch here
It may very well be the 3rd man. I have not seen a market like this before. First we get Lambert backed short with no real purpose and now we appear to have a two horse race. Neither with much purpose either.
It is a jungle it is. A jungle. ;)
My guess is that Ernesto is right. The Burnley hierarchy don't know who it is either.

Apparently on look north he's turned it down but this hasn't been picked up on the Doncaster messageboard or Burnley. This could be a ramp to get a better price.

I do note the comparison being made by Burnley fans between Megson and Laws, i.e. fans against the appointment and won't give him a chance. Surely Burnley can't make the same mistake as Bolton...

I've laid some of my green from Laws as I always try to do when the winner goes very low.
Shame I didn't do the same on SoD :(
There's a story in the Lancs telegraph published an hour ago which has now been pulled.http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/4847659.It_s_D_Day_for_Clarets_in_boss_hunt/Wonder what it said?I've laid some of my green from Laws as I always try to

The SOD pile-in always looked odd to me, from the timing (for which I was belittled) to the relatively low level of money for a 1.20 shot.
Yet I've not played this market at all well. Think I'll stick to what I know best for now and just have pennies on these markets until I understand how they work.
