Lions hardly play outside all season so, as a dome team they should seed highly in the NFC  I think it maybe 3 outside games?

My back to cash out angle every year are the Browns as I use all my free bets on them but, that is more out of blind faith.

The interesting price to cash out later in the season for me are the Chargers and the Cards.  Chargers now have coaches and the Cards are a team that could be explosive.

The Ravens look the bet at the moment but I don't know if there is another sport that it's so easy to be sucked in by. This time last season the Ravens looked like the best team too but fizzled out.

At those prices the Bengals look interesting, a rough start but are getting it together now they are getting healthy, Burrow, Chase and Higgins are capable of blowing out anyone if they can stay on the field together and should have beat the Ravens if they didn't try three runs after the fumble during O/T after Burrow had been passing at will all game.

Its an obvious one but the stats for Mahomes and Kelce this season are so poor, they have won games by luck and one play results, YET they are unbeaten.  They know how to win and in recent years are undeniably the best playoff team.  There is a very real chance they go unbeaten through the season.  Still a huge price at 5.1

You make a decent point.

Now 14-1 and the lay price is 6. They do finish the regular season with a couple of tough road games but one win would guarantee the #1 seed.

Totally outclassed the Steelers, even without  Chris Jones.

The 6+ odds we won't see again Sad , should have gone in a lot more on that.

Think too much was made of the 'one score wins', a lot of them were fairly comfortable.

eg v Texans was a 'one score win' but at the end they had the option of an easy TD or an easy FG to make it two scores, or just take a knee and and end the game 7pts up.

I was puzzled that the Rams/Cardinals game wasn't on but didn't give it much thought as I wasn't too interested, but really disappointing that Steelers v Bengals not on Sad

Don't understand what's going on with these games as a broadcast deal is decided before the season starts... you pay x amount and you get these games, so it's not week to week decisions.

Sky must have had the rights to the game but decided not to show it Plain

Very annoying as the Ravens/Browns game looks bad. Bailey Zappe starting QB for Browns

All the Bengals games I've seen have been great and most of the Steelers ones too.

And it is meaningful as Bengals must win to have a shot at play offs. Probably won't get in as either Miami or Denver likely win later, but they won't know that til next day.
Report tobermory January 3, 2025 6:09 PM GMT
Reading that link you posted I think it's more likely that 1 game on the Saturday was scheduled and Sky had the rights to that all along.

Then they moved another game forward from Sunday but that was not part of the contract rights.

A bit like when a premier league game involving a big club gets postponed and then rescheduled for April at a time when no one else is playing and people ask how is it not on TV?

Because if it was originally scheduled for 3pm Saturday it can never be a live game in a later slot.

Thinking there maybe 1, 2or evening 3 underdogs winning this weekend.

Matthew Stafford threw 4 TD passes in Rams' 30-20 win over Vikings in October and they can win again with home field advantage.

Tampa Bay (10-7) beat Washington (12-5) in week 1 by 37-20 but the Commanders still came through the regular season with a better record from a tougher schedule. Both teams have good offenses but suspect defenses, but overall the Commanders look like the better of the 2 teams. Washington have now won five straight games and are arguably the surprise team this season.

If CJ Stroud returns to his form of last season then the Texans can beat the Chargers at the NRG Stadium. The Chargers have allowed the fewest points in the NFL this season and Houston have been awful in their last 9 (4-5 record) so it ain't going to be easy, but home field advantage may sway it.

Anyway score predictions are:

Chargers 17 Texans 21

Ravens 27 Steelers 13

Bills 31 Broncos 17

Packers 17 Eagles 24 (Although this is dependent upon whether Jalen Hurts (concussion) or Jordan Love (funny bone injury) are available)

Buccaneers 24 Commanders 27

Rams 31 Vikings 24

Good Luck with your picks.

Good analysis. I agree that the Chargers are being overrated. That's why they are my biggest red. I see them nearer the level of Texans/Broncos/Steelers than the top 3 seeds. They are a good team, and I expect will be stronger next year, but  I think the Texans game is a coin flip and they would be blown out by the top 3 in the next round anyway. I like the Packers a lot, they are 0-4 vs Lions/Vikings but I would honestly expect them to beat both if they meet again! Though the Eagles is a tough first game, they just seem to score touchdowns without even making big plays. The Packers I think will win a Super Bowl in the next 2 seasons, they are a young team with a high ceiling, but inconsistent, sometimes are awful for 2 or 3 quarters then come to life. The Vikings red would be way worse if they had managed to beat Detroit last week! I just have always expected Sam Darnold to turn in to a pumpkin at some point. But I uunderrated him (though maybe last week was the start of him folding). The red I'm most annoyed about is Tampa, as they were the one 200+ shot I backed in September. But when Godwin and Evans went down and they lost twice to Atlanta I bailed out. That would have worked out for me but for the inepetitude of the Atlanta HC.

A little in game bet builder for the eagles Packers game would be under on both Hurts rushing yards and Love passing yards.

Hurts has been in concussion protocol for a few weeks and has obviously had a problem so I think he won't be running much tonight as they try to minimize him getting hit and Love has a problem with his elbow and if you watched his interview in the week when he was being quizzed you would be very worried from a Packers point of view he was very evasive when asked about his ability to throw the ball, it's obviously an issue.
