This promises to be an intriguing game, not least because it pitches probably the liveliest, most entertaining team against the dourest, grumpiest team.

Denver are now at the stage of climbing themselves into the 'disappointing' box - six weeks in and they have an offense that seems intent on misfiring brutally every time they show some tiny spark of life. Russell Wilson hasn't clicked with his fair (if not exciting) weapons, and the schedule has repeatedly thrust the Broncos into the spotlight so we've had a really good chance to see just how turgid their in-possession play has been.

They are actually tending to get quite a lot of offensive yards each game - along with plenty of penalties - but just aren't turning these into points. As good as their defense is, Denver aren't going to win many games if they can't start putting 20+ points on the board. They look devoid of creativity and there's a lack of energy to their play at the moment.

Conversely, the New York Jets have a stronger offense than defense - they have found ways to score points at a decent rate with two different quarterbacks this season (Zach Wilson back from injury to take over from Joe Flacco). Defensively, they are okay overall, perhaps just worse than average, with the emergence of Sauce Gardner as a rookie to reckon with being a definite highlight, but they are a young side and have a certain spirit and energy about their play. Going forward, Breeze Hall is emerging as a proper threat on the ground, which in turn opens up more throwing options for Wilson.

This game was initially priced up in most places with Denver clear favourites, while I would have had NYJ in at about 4/6.

Alas, the really juicy prices have gone already, but at anything around 11/10, the New York Jets rate a decent bet for me in this match-up.

The predictor, nursing the scars of the Jaguars slow implosion last week, has this as New York Jets 24-14 Denver Broncos.

Ha, indeed. Although looks like he's got a knee now and quite a bad one...

NYJ grind this one out (yay!), and even without Wilson the Broncos seem fully capable of sucking the entertainment out of any match-up - they're the new Titans, but more mediocre!

Wallflower is right about these modern nerd coaches....

Miami, 16-10 up, early 2nd half; have a simple field goal to go 2 scores up, but nerd coach 'goes for it' and fails. They won the game but never came close to scoring again.

I think the analytics for this is flawed because most of the teams going for it on 4th and 2 are the teams most capable of getting it, and so the overall success % makes it seem more viable than it is for average/poor teams.
