Career over and looking at a possible 20 year sentence for driving under the influence causing a fatality. The woman he killed was 23 years old and reports are she was awake and screaming as she was trapped in the car and burned alive Cry Ruggs was allegedly driving 156 mph (250 km/h) Angry

Staggering level of stupidity, particularly as I've read when he scores a TD he kneels in the endzone and points to the heavens in remembrance of a friend who was killed in a car accident.

Whole thing is such a waste, he was a talent who would've made an impact on the league. All for a night on the p1ss at Top Golf and not wanting to catch an Uber.

RIP Tina Tintor Sad

156mph and twice the drink driving limit.

Absolute waste of life. Poor lady (and her dog) and Ruggs own ruined life.

I don't think he'll get near 20 years but jail time is mandatory.

Hopefully he pleads guilty in which case you wouldn't think so tobes but have also read the worst case scenario is actually 46 years when you combine the different charges. I can't comment on what may happen Nevada criminal law not an area of expertise.

The higher end sentences are very unlikely I think. I remember when Mike Tyson was on trial, every news report 'faces 60 years in jail'. He was sentenced to 6 and served 3.

I think for this offence the typical sentence is about 5-12 years, with a good chance of parole halfway.

He surely is going to plead guilty as soon as possible (due to overwhelming evidence) and I think he may get some leniency due to who he is. As I could see a judge figuring that if he gets out in time to resume his career then he has more chance of rehabilitation and perhaps pay more restitution to the family of the victim.

I'd guess he will serve 3-4 years.

You don't think the 156 mph he was doing will see him incur the wrath of the judge at all?

I think the only purpose of the 'up to 48 years' type sentences are as a threat to force a guilty plea and a plea bargain.
