As a huge fan of most American sports, I cant wait for the play offs to begin. Those pampered Premiership footballers would do well to take notice of the physical demands and playing schedule needed to win Lord Stanley's cup (hell the guys sometimes dont even have time to shave!! Whoops)

I have plumped for St Louis this season to win. Been impressed in the main, by their goalie tandem, their mixture of youth and experience, and trade deadline pickup of Zbynek Michalek .

Should be at full strength with Shattenkirk and Steen coming back onto an already impressive team, add in 4 players who scored 20 or more regular season goals, the likes of Stastny, Lehtera and Oshie who werent far behind the 20 goal mark.

Tricky first round game against the Wild but with the strength in depth of the Western Conference it was always unlikely to be easy regardless of the matchups.

As an aside any Western Conference side to win the Stanley Cup is 20/23 with Boyle Sports and 4/5 with BV. Cracking bet IMO. Enjoy!

We need more NHL folk on here, used to have a little community but we all drifted away. FWIW, I played the Kings hoping for that late charge which came too late/if at all, but managed to grab a nice price on the Wild on the back of the Dubnyk acquisition.

Were it not for the bet, i'd be supporting the Blues too, talent all over their team. Like the Lightning too, but seriously shocked with the loss last night, was all over the ML in that.:(

I backed the Blues earlier in the season too.  Blues finished with the equal best record in the western conference tied with the Ducks.  Ducks were 1st and Blues second on a tiebreaker.
So how do the Blues (number 2 seed) end up playing the 5th seed team in the west, the Wild, in the first round??  Unlucky for the Blues that the Wild was the hottest team in the second half of the season.

I find the NHL is like the MLB in that lately the same teams always seem to win it all.  In the MLB its been the Giants, Cardinals or Red Sox.  In the NHL its either the Blackhawks or Kings with the odd east coast team.
I guess with the Kings out its the Blackhawks turn.  In the east the Rangers have been close for a few years now but I like the Lightning to be the eastern rep in the Stanley Cup.

Blues are so disappointing in the postseason. Another first-round exit. Just one playoff series win since 2002.

Totally agree, they seem to find away to win best of 7 games. What about the superhuman effort of Duncan Keith and the other minute logging defencemen, astounding mental and physical effort.

Would put the overpaid, under worked, footballers to shame.

Blues/Sharks v Penguins Stanley cup final. Penguins playing amazing hockey and have been hot for a while now, they've made the best team in the league this season look very ordinary in their first two games, even though they lost the first game they still dominated them. I expect the stanley cup 2016 to be won by the red hot penguins
