Seriously? 7 years. I know it's not like MLB with guaranteed money, but there's cap hits etc if he gets cut early. 7 years is a franchise QB deal, I think Ben only got a 6 year deal, Rodgers only got 5 years $110M. The daftest deal for a non franchise QB so far went to 'Average' Joe Flacco. who got 6/120 - career QB rating 83.7. But 7 years for Cutler?

AFAIK the cap hits would depend on how the contract is structured though. The last 3-4 years could be performance related or similar so that his contract is front-loaded with the guaranteed money. That way the cap hit wouldn't be as bad in the latter years if they decided to cut him.

At least I think that's how it all works.

Yes, we'd have to see the deal to judge the deal in it's entirety, I can see why the Bears' did it, he is a NFL starting QB and you have no hope without one, mid rank IMO though. 7 years is a lot though. They've committed themselves to him for years to come.
