been betting on nfl for 20 years and ive never even thought about it.

if the bet is under 8.5 and over 8.5, what happens if a team wins 8 and draws 1?? will that get settled as 8.5 wins or 8 wins? Confused

I did a lot of googling on this last year after the 49ers tied with the Rams because I had the 49ers to win less than 10 games (they went 11-4-1 in the end). As far as I could find, the standard rule is that a tie counts as a loss for win total purposes (as it is not a win). Most book-makers don't mention it in their rules but this seems to be the accepted convention in Vegas.

Bill Barnwell had the same bet (49ers < 10 wins) and in his column from last February he states

"Sportsbooks don't count that tie as a half-win or as any sort of tiebreaker; for all intents and purposes, that tie was just as good as a loss for this bet"

interesting. i bet even the bookies dont know how they settle them though. i imagine a bit of a struggle trying to get paid out, if they settle it the wrong way for your bet.
