The ben injury has probably gifted the ravens the division when it looked like the steelers had all the momentum...just shows superbowl hopes can be crushed in the NFL losing a QB

Been a great day for me so far. Will be even better if Portland get up and it can stay under 40.5 points in this game. Had 500 on Chicago just to cover my tracks, wish i had a bit more as have Portland -1 in another multi worth about 1K. Also will get a 40% bonus as well i think.

Get in Portland. Unders looks safe aswell. Probably my best ever day on the punt. It could of been so much better aswell. Had a 14 fold for about 15k and the only leg that let me down was unders/overs on the golden state vs oklahoma game. I had under 199.5, it went easily over but i dont know why i added that in, i really didnt like it.

Steelers beat themselves this morning. As HARRY stated with 3 big injuries for the Steelers, they still should have taken this game at least into OT. Steelers should have switched QB to Charlie in the last 5 mins. Leftwich couldn't throw the ball due to a rib injury. The 2 timeouts cost them as well.

tbh Kriskin I dont think the steelers ever looked capable of winning this game with leftwich...they looked as if they were just waiting for an error from the ravens which was the only way they were going to win....ravens played it smart tbh...never fumbled the ball and threw the ball with care...Steelers D is very good

If this team get into the playoffs with Big Ben back they are a genuine threat.

reports of Big Ben out for another 2 weeks.they definitely need him back for the run in.If this team get into the playoffs with Big Ben back they are a genuine threat. The D is playing very well atm
What you reckon next week db? It is tricky..at what stage did you use the draw option? down to 330 this week so that could well be halved...I have used Norwich, man u, man city. Some good results this week with everton and man u losing.

they have Browns/Ravens/chargers potentially without Big Ben
I reckon they need to win 2 out of those 3 to go 8-5 and then they could win the last 3 (cowboys, Bengals and Browns)
I predict they will get 10 wins which might be enough to get 6th seed.

Steelers should forget about getting Ben back for next weekend against the Browns and try to get him into some sort of playable condition for the road trip the following week against the Ravens. That's assuming they still have designs on the NFC North.
If they have already written the NFC North off then they are as well leaving Ben as long as it takes to get fit because there's no way they aren't making the Playoffs anyway. There's only 6 teams with a winning record in the AFC (and one on 5-5) which is shocking, the NFC has 8 teams with winning records and 2 on 5-5.

Harry, I think it was about week 8 or 9 when I used the draw (it was Everton at home to Newcastle). Lucky I did as Newcastle equalised in the last 5 minutes.

I dont understand why they are getting no respect.
They are likely to win the North, get the 2 seed and face someone like the Broncos at home.
They also have a few players to come back.

We saw that in the Superbowl. He almost carries that offense along with Brady. without him I think they will struggle in the back end.
also the Pats are a different team without Gronk. We saw that in the Superbowl. He almost carries that offense along with Brady. without him I think they will struggle in the back end.
I'd suggest 2 weeks is going to be too soon for Ben. The biggest danger to the Steeler's season is that he rushes back before the rib is fully healed and has a recurrance. That would certainly be the end of their Superbowl hopes and could be very serious for him personally. Tomlin needs to protect him and prepare to sit him till a week or two before the playoffs if necessary. If they aren't good enough to get a wild card without him then they aren't going to do anything in the playoffs anyway

if we focus purely on price though and we assume the Ravens get the 2nd seed. As predicted on NFL.com and a few others(I know it might not happen)
The SB odds imply that the Broncos would be 1/2 at Baltimore - would probably be the lay of the year imo

David Garrard might be available for the Steelers. He may have been the starter at Miami this season but got injured in camp (recently cleared to play by doctors). Probably more suited to Haley's offense than Leftwich

d13 - Leftwich should NOT have been out in the 4th Quarter. Batch should have come in. This is were I believe the Steelers beat themselves. Tomlin should have made the switch. Byran couldn't throw the ball more than 10 yrds.

Garrard gets my vote, wtf Tomlin was playing at for 58 minutes is beyond me. Sandwich had two broken ribs and clearly could not throw the ball, that pick he threw was about 30 yards nothing for a guy with a cannon arm, same with that final pass to Mike 'I want paying like Megatron, but I want to act like Desean Jackson' Wallace couldn't be arsed to try and catch.
What Pittsburgh were doing down at the goal line throwing passes rather than pounding Dwyer, the good Lord only knows.
And then the moron kicks a FG, not even a game tying FG, you have no QB you fool, getting that close again is not going to happen, your QB can't throw the ball deep he's hurt you cretin so you're not going to score a long TD.
A TD there wins the game, because the Ravens could not move the ball at all.
Tomlin and Haley had an awful night.
RUN THE BALL IDIOTS.

I disagree about the ravens not being able to move the ball...its amazing how teams can suddenly move the ball when they need to...the ravens were playing as conservative as you can get as that is all they needed to do...seems like you done yer cash last night....you did know leftwich was the starting QB ?

I cant think of one dangerous throw from the ravens last night...they were playing field position last night once they had the lead...no way they play so safe with ben at QB

>>>They didn't move the ball all night, then suddenly they'd be moving the ball at will on the leagues top defense? Ok. Smith got blanketed and Rice did nothing, average Joe did the usual...you did notice that offense scored a grand total off 3 points apart from the 3 Wallace handed them, right?
I won actually I had Steelers + 3.5, of course I knew he was the starter, if not the Steelers would have been - 3.5 if not more.

why would you be so bothered about the steelers going for the TD instead of kicking the fg if you won anyway?? Fgs in these games are massive
You see games all the time when all of a sudden they go no huddle and they move the ball...flacco has done it v the steelers in the past to win games...they didnt need to chase the game...they got the lead back with jones TD and sat on the lead against the clown leftwich

Steelers fan therefore when Tomlin makes a mess, it bothers me.
But you said earlier he never made any dangerous throws? he was also nearly picked off twice. Fact is they couldn't move the ball all night, as proven by the stats. They didn't need to chase the game? you make is sound like they had a 21 point lead.
If scoring was so easy, why did they only manage to score 3 all night, even playing conservatively? I can't remember any runs on 3rd and long to protect the football and play field possession, they tried and failed to over the ball against a team with no QB for 60 minutes.
They threw ball 32 times and only ran it 23, and they have RR and Leach, the perfect tandem to run the football and protect it...
Your argument makes no sense, they didn't run the ball because the Steelers wouldn't let them (team 23-47), when they tried to pass there was nothing there only dumpoffs.

Why did he need to? he was playing a steelers team offering nothing at all...ravens are prone to having these games where they offer little on offence. The steelers scored from a flag on the 1st play..ravens missed an easy fg also...cruise control

Flacco has a 62.7 passer rating on the road this year, but if he'd needed to he could have walked down the field 80 yards on the Steelers defense?
Ok...

Scored on a flag?? you mean that 31 yard scramble from a QB with no mobility? I can't remember seeing a flag on that play...
Offering nothing at all? more 1st downs and more yards than they had...
The Ravens just aren't that good, that's their problem.
Ravens missed an easy FG? so what's new???
Cruise control my a**e, they let a team with no QB beat itself.
The Ravens will get r*ped when it matters, the Texans fully exposed them.

remember flacco to TJ housh for the winning score in a tight game
...Of course it can happen, what you're saying is it it would have, on a night when their offense was appalling for the entire game. That suddenly on the road where they've been awful all season, they're going to drive 80 yards for a TD at will on the Steelers.
Ok...

I'll say it again Tomlin beat the Steelers last nite by continuing to play Leftwich when the whole world could see he was injured. Ravens did NOT play a conservative game last nite. The Ravens were BRUTAL. They couldn't move the ball at all. There first 2 scores were mistakes by the Steelers.

On another note a fully fit steeler team is as good as any team in the league so I am not against the steel nation...

HARRY - I don't know about not being in trouble. This was only a 3 point game. I just feel that it was not as comfortable for the Ravens. U could tell that by Harbaugh's body language. Ray Rice was their only man running with the ball. I feel even without Ben the Steelers had a BIG chance last nite. By keeping an injured QB on was a massive mistake by Tomlin. Batch must be a goat?

I didn't bet on the match but also thought the Ravens were poor last night. The Steelers would have cruised it with Big Ben in my opinion, the stand in quarterback had several opportunities to make a play and they came very close a few times whereas the Ravens never really looked like scoring a touchdown aside from a return. I have to disagree with you Harry on one point as surely the Ravens would have wanted to have scored a touchdown to put the game out of reach of the Steelers. For example, had the Steelers have changed their QB for the last quarter, especially in the last 2 mins then, I think they would have made a play to at least take it to overtime or even get a touchdown and win given how close it was. There was one play in the last minute I remember where the Steelers QB just had to make a regulation long throw down the field and it would have resulted in a field goal at the very least or even been a touchdown to win the match but he was throwing the ball with broken ribs! I sort of agree with Harry that there was a period in the middle of the match where the Ravens where managing the score and the Steelers couldn't get much going forward but the Steelers still looked dangerous on a few occasions and I don't understand why the Ravens would chance just having a 3 point lead until the finish if they could have easily stepped up their game why didn't they? I think the Steelers Defence basically owned the Ravens offence and they struggled to get anything going as a result.
I don't pretend to know anywhere near as much as anyone on here as i've only recently started to watch American football but i'm a good judge of sport generally. From what I have seen the Falcons are a very good side but won't be good enough to win the SB. In my opinion Baltimore will eventually get found out regardless of their seeding in the play offs - I agree with DD I haven't been impressed by them and don't understand why people get excited by their price. They might have an easy run-in and be seeded # 1 and everything else but eventually they will surely have to play a strong experienced team who knows how to win the SB and will be exposed in my view. I don't see the Giants winning it back to back, I think the Texans are a very good side like the Falcons but again I think they will come up short against a side like the Packers, Patriots etc.
I was disappointed with Dallas last week. I thought they could make a rush for the playoffs but it looks fanciful given recent form although I think they will beat Washington this week where most people will be looking for an upset. The Saints have been very impressive in recent weeks but might have left it too late.
The injury to Big Ben is such a loss as I thought the Steelers had a great shot at the superbowl with him leading the way.
The one fancied side i haven't seen much of is the 49er's so I look forward to seeing them over the next few weeks.

The Ravens have two of their best Ds injured but are still finding ways to win games.
The last few years has shown us that not always the prettiest team to watch win the Superbowl.
It is all about getting into the playoffs. then when you get into the playoffs taking opportunities.
The Ravens have an outstanding record at home and I agree that the Packers/Pats and probably the 49ers are better teams but that Ravens team finds a way to win almost all the time. Just look at their record at home over the past few years.
their price is ridiculous imo.

The Ravens are not good enough to find ways to win 3-4 times in the post-season. Most good teams will have an outstanding record at home. I'd rank Packers, Pats, 49'ers, Houston ahead of them, they found a way to win against a team with their QB out, and the guy that played QB had broken ribs for 58 minutes, and they squeaked by at that. This notion that they sat on the ball ad cruised to a win is nonsense.
The Steelers with Leftwich outgained them 3-2. An injured Leftwich.
I think their current price is too short actually.

Bit of as non game now, the div is locked up and the Steelers will be starting Charlie Brown. Rats will walk this, and I think they'll cover too. Doesn't matter really, Steelers need to go 4-0 or 3-1 to make a WC and much like last season the o-line is way too banged up to progress far, the Ravens and average Joe will once again fall flat on their faces in January.

I think this is the wise decision really...thought they should have played ben but even with ben playing ravens are so touch to beat at home...get ben back and they can win out after baltimore game..

He's just not ready to play, and it's a pretty pointless game now anyway, and these two games have been ruined by that injury. The Ravens keep squeaking out crappy wins like the one last week, they have done it time and again this year, they're the worst 9-2 team I have ever seen. I'll take them and the Falcs on come January whoever and wherever they play.
I suspect that when he comes back next week he will not be 100% so be careful with your £££.
The Steelers are really struggling to overcome Tomlin's in game mis-management this year, and the penalties are killing us.

There is a huge gulf in class on defense, the Steelers STILL, despite what Warren Sapp says every year, have the best defense, the Ravens D is shadow of what it was. With everyone on both teams at 100%, the Steelers are the better team, no doubt at all. I'm really hoping for round 3, with BR at QB vs Average Joe.
