A mate of mine placed a bet on an MLB game prior to it starting. They voided the bet stating that "they had lost their feed". Surely they should only void bets placed "in play" if any at all?

They can`t void his bet because they lost their feed. If he placed the bet before first pitch, they can only void it if there is a Pitcher change from the listed starters. Don`t let them away with it.

glad you agree chaps, i've told him not to let it rest. slybet are a joke with the baseball anyway. i've got a few chunky world series bets on the giants with them, i'd love to give em a kicking
